wget http://swupdate.openvpn.org/as/openvpn-as-2.0.10-Ubuntu14.amd_64.deb
须藤dpkg -i openvpn-as-2.0.10-Ubuntu14.amd_64.deb
须藤密码openvpn

https://:943 / admin

  1. It's been awhile since I watched, but I'm still a fan – glad to see you are still making content. Been a viewer since 2009/Revision3/Boxee. ??

  2. hi all i was wondering is this viable way of a diy off site nas backup i am very paranoyed about loss off data and have meny backups but if i could have a off site but on network nas it would make backups a lot easyer

  3. For anyone trying to do this in +2017, the download page has changed.
This is now the download page: https://openvpn.net/index.php/access-server/download-openvpn-as-sw.html
To get the URL for the wget command (8:40), go to the download page and right click to get "open link in new tab". Put the link into a wget command. (Don't forget https) Example command for 64 bit Ubuntu 16 LTS:
    wget https://swupdate.openvpn.org/as/openvpn-as-2.1.9-Ubuntu16.amd_64.deb

  4. Hey, Darren looks like that dont want people going directly to the website that has all the download files anymore as it looks like it is blocked. i had to go to the OpenVpn website to download the latest file for my server. Think you could look into it?

  5. great video thanks, I'm new to Linux but I'm guessing I can to the same with Linux with a GUI interface? my server is not a VM it's just running on an old computer but it would still work the same? cheers

  6. What happened to the rest of the XenServer Build???? YOu guys talked about building a cluster, and then the series seemingly just dropped off after Defcon…

  7. hey Darren, do you use linux as your daily OS because that is all i ever see you use on hak5? just asking cause i want to try to start using linux as my daily driver but because i have been using windows almost my whole life it is kinda hard to go to linux also not all of my applications work correctly.

  8. What's wrong with PPTP w/ MSCHAP v1? It and IE6 run great on my good old Windows XP desktop, very easy to use and connect my Galaxy S3 with KitKat 4.4.2's VPN to.

  9. Hello, i am trying to get into the admin page you go to at 9:45 on my windows device (im running the ubuntu on virtual box), but it says ''this webpage is not aviable''. however, when i typ in the adres on my ubuntu virtual box, it does work. how can i get this adres to work on my windows device?

  10. This is misleading. Yes, it's a VPN, it will allow you to connect your devices while you're on the road to your home network.
I think what people are coming here for, is for anonymous internet browsing. You can't get that with this type of configuration. When you pay for a service, you're actually more anonymous. You may not be anonymous to the internet VPN company you're using, however, you're being buffered from the rest of the internet browsing you're doing. In a way, you have a middle man now. Instead of your MAC being tied to your ISP and your ISP knowing who you are, you are now pushing that MAC to the VPN company and from there they are using their own MAC. So, in order for someone to track you, they would need to either hack the VPN service network and gain access to a database, or the company would have to be subpoenaed. Or, the company could be shady and release this information to the highest bidder. Using a VPN service is probably still better off than browsing from your ISP.

  11. Hi Hak5 team, just caught this episode – very informative, thanks.

As Access Server is only free for 2 users, it might be worth checking out the Untangle distro with the OpenVPN module. I've been using OpenVPN Community Edition (for work) for around 8 or more years (I forget exactly, but it's a while), which only gives a command prompt interface for creating/managing certificates – hence why this episode caught my attention.

My install has been working great for all that time (luckily I only have a small number of users to manage), but I'm always keen to learn of better/easier ways to admin this stuff along with all my other tasks. I got a bit excited about your video and the ease of use of Access Server… right up to the point where you whispered it's only free for 2 users…

Hence my suggestion to maybe do a comparison of the facilities from the Untangle option? This is free "for unlimited use".

  12. Hey, beginner here. How viable would it be to set up a VPN service like this on a rented cloud server-space? The idea being to create a personal VPN in a different country to avoid national firewalls or restrictions. Would it security-wise, still be like trusting a VPN service with your data?

  13. followed all the steps as in the vid but when i try to browse to the client UI page it doesnt work. Since i'm running this off my ADSL router do i need to setup dyndns or similar service?

  14. this is very like a intermediate level version of this channel since I am getting a degree in computer science and I'm still not at this kind of level but would love to learn

  15. Please, Shannon, stop saying "LOL JK" every 2 minutes… It makes you look like a 5 year old who hasn't been informed that 1337 speak was phased out years ago…

  16. Wow !! i have this setup on my ec2 instance, and network speed is much better then other vpn, i had to tweek few configuration to make it though!!

  17. Hey question about the ubuntu long term support option…does that have anything to do w conical sending personal user search data to their servers? Or has that been cleaned out both systems?

  18. Sadly there is no mention on where to get the software to create a vm for the vpn and you guys just go into creating a new one without any background to where to go for your vm software which one to trust etc… Just here we go set it up blah blah blah now we have a vpn fin.

No meat and potatoes you just gave us veggies thinking that we know where you got everything else.

    GG I guess???

  19. i really like to finnish that server, cuz i really want to get vpn connection from outside to my home network, so i hope u can work on this project and help us a lot even to the no tech genius like me, thanks and i wish the best for you guys, hi from peru

  20. Installed openvpn-as on my main linux box, then on a vm. 4 free concurrent connections into my network. Works great, quick setup, and even works through an updated websense firewall. Much easier then doing openvpn by hand from the command line.
