  1. Dale, thanks for sharing your Dad with us. The stories each of your guests share are not only fun, but they explain his character. David makes a great point that dad was carrying the sport through the '80s-'90s. And I believe you with this show, interviews, TV commentating, IRacing etc., continue that legacy now. You have picked up the reigns whether you meant to or not. Great job, congrats on daughter #2! Girls change everything about a man. Keep it up Dale and all the people at Dirty Mo. Thanks again. Rob from Long Island

  2. I had those kind of problems with step-fathers and spent my last two years of high school at my uncles house and went to finish high school. It had gotten to the point of almost blows with him. My paternal father had left and it was a few years before I saw him again. We were never close asother boys and fathers were.

  3. Loved to watch Dale Jr race and the interviews in victory lane and just like Jr my dad sent me to military school and I think it really helps you through life.My dad had a big auto salvage yard and got into alot of mischief.Dad finally had enough and said he was sending me to Camden Military Academy.I spent 3 yrs there and from what Ive read this helped Jr and gave him confidence through the Busch series and Cup.I hope Dale Jr will get to spend lots of time with his two girls and he can look back and say he was a part of them growing up.I really enjoy The Dirty Mo videos, thanks for sharing..

  4. I still can’t freakin believe it happened! I was at that race and seen the wreck from Depalmer section and I still ain’t over it. My own Dad passed away later in the year in November. Him and I had a long drive home wondering but in my head I knew he didn’t make it. I agree nascar was never the same.

  5. I'm a diehard NASCAR fan, been one for 30 plus years..The sport needs to drop the rich pretty boys and get back to good ol boys coming up the hard way..Too many candy A&8 pc drivers..Big E(He hated being called SR) is the mold of what a racer was

  6. Could you please interview Kyle Larson and about his N word on air? I actually believe he needs forgiven. ? humans says things in the heat of the moment. We are human ? and sometime we suck too ? Who among us is should cast a stone ????

  7. its strange people who were really big into nascar before 2001 daytona 500 lost interest and thats when it grabbed my interest … i watched many years earlier than that and id root for Earnhardt and Gordon from time to time but i was too young to understand … ive gone back and watched a lot of the races available on youtube and what a great things its been for me … for me i have a hard time understanding how you can walk away from the sport … lately ive been a Larson fan for the last few years and now thats gone to the gutter. I dont know why ive been so obsessed over nascar for so long when others lose interest and others hate the sport. All in all the characters will come and go but they will always be racing. Theres been some damn good characters. I love the story of nascar but its really been a frustrating one… and it was never lower than in the evening after the 2001 daytona 500. Its still so unfair, but that is life unfortunately…

  8. It’s still hard for me even today. I enjoy hearing the stories. But I can’t watch interviews of him and things like that. I can watch old races. But that hole his passing left in so many of us will never be filled and is still raw with the pain of that day. RIP Dale. We still miss you #3forlife

  9. I have to admit, I never watched another race after Dale Sr. Died. It just was too heartbreaking. I always paid attention to any highlights or news about Jr. though. Glad I found these podcast. It has reminded me of how much I loved NASCAR.

  10. It was pretty cool to listen this entire podcast. The stories of Sr's regrets, and then Jr talking about talking to the baby in Amy's belly, so when she's delivered and being cleaned up, she will hear a voice she recognizes. All any of us can hope for is to do better than the generations that went before us.

  11. Remember that when your Dad showed you things, walked with you and talked with you, you were always first, on his mind, even before Nascar, he never stopped talking about you

  12. Dale since you have gave it up I don’t even watch NASCAR anymore, You and your Dad were 2 OF THE MOST EXCITING DRIVERS I HAVE EVER SEEN , GOD BLESS

  13. "yeah it was hard for a while…  yeah,"…… indeed it  sure is…  still…!!..time stand still, i'm not looking back, but i want to look around me now… see more of the people and places that surround me now… time stand still.

  14. I get so sick of seeing people tell their BS reason why they stopped following NASCAR. The fact is, the people that stopped watching NASCAR were never really fans of racing to begin with and they got bored with it because they lost their man crush. I loved watching Sr. wheel a stock car as much as anybody and he was great but, so is Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, and the rest of the current drivers. Truthfully, it is way nicer now going to races because, the bandwagon fans aren't there and the people that are there are actual racing fans.

  15. Great one .
He's right , it felt very different . But , for every hundred that said ,"that's about when I stopped watching ……" , There was a thousand true Earnhardt/Nascar fans out here that still believed in the sport that he loved .
I lost my mom three weeks after the 2001 Daytona race . I didn't stop eating my potato salad or spaghetti sauce just like she made it . I still follow the sport , and I still love it . Neither are the same , but aren't we just doing the best we can , I think Jr's dad and my mom both were .
P.S. Mom watched the races solely to see how "her man was gonna do it this week" lol
She was a fan BECAUSE of The Intimidator .

  16. Mark. Please get your own show as you hurt this one. Read the comments on all these posts sir, your “input” isn’t appreciated or needed. Thanks

  17. That was amazing to hear. What a great interview. I just finished reading this same story in Kelly's new book, which is amazing by the way. It is so nice to hear the different points of view from so many of you folks that lived it. Dale I really loved your passion for the history of the sport. To all the folks that put this show together Thank You.
