  2. I've never understood Emmure hate. Yeah Frankie is very…Durst-y to say the least. But musically, especially now that Mr. Travis is part of the band, they've always been solid groove/beat down.

  3. I LOVE Loathe’s album. Definitely my record of the year so far. I remember seeing them in a really small venue in Bedfordshire, England a few years ago. Hope they become massive.

  4. I’m still trying to get into Loathe. The singing/screaming technique isn’t quite there for me with them, but I’ll keep trying. The blended sings still feel disjointed to me, but maybe it’s just me.

  5. Still no Hollywood Undead? I know you've listened to maybe three of their songs and think you have a perfect understanding of them, but their new album had some bangers.

  6. imma big fan of emmure and i thought this was their best album i thought their 2014 album was amazing but hindsight blew it out the water imo

  7. Personal Reactions:
Grey Daze: Didn't hear about this, but definitely sounds like a good tribute at the worst.
Testament: Gotta agree that it was good, not great as a whole (the singles were killer though). I did appreciate that it had more variety than Brotherhood, but still no Dark Roots of Earth, much less their earlier work.
Lovebites: Quite good like their other albums. Looking forward to more
Black Dahlia Murder: I'm sorry, this album just didn't work for me. I can see the appeal, but melodeth as a whole is hit or miss with me.
Emmure: Apparently they gave everything they had to go from irredeemable to standard bad. I don't think I'm touching it.
Loathe: Haven't heard about this either, I'll have to give it a look

  8. Loathe is definitely the next big thing for me. ILIIAITE has an easy spot on my best-of-the-year list and I'm so glad I pre-ordered it. 10/10

Verminous is another fantastic release from TBDM, especially with the different styles and song structures they play around with. 9/10

Amends might be kind of a standard rock album at the end of the day, but the band makes up for it. Honestly, this is one of the few re-recorded albums I've heard that sounds really freaking good and the fact that Chester was only around 19 when those vocals were recorded just further proved that he would go on to do incredible things. 8/10

  9. If you're interested in Grey Daze, I implore you to check out their original 2 studio albums — Wake Me (1994) and …No Sun Today (1997). The guitar tone and short but sweet solos on the former are very enjoyable, and also has a fair share of legitimately great songs (Morei Sky, Starting To Fly, Sometimes, Hole, and one of my favourite songs of all time — What's In The Eye; the original Wake Me version is easily the best one), and …No Sun Today is a complete body of work featuring surprisingly creative tracks and the absolute darkest mood I've heard associated with Chester (B12, Drag, Sickness, In Time, Just Like Heroin, their cover of Anything Anything by Dramarama, and Soul Song are all fantastic!!).

Is their material perfect? No, but it has so much charm and genuinely great songs that I just can't help but enjoy, not to mention Chester's vocals are at their rawest and most emotional (also lots of clean singing!). If anything, coming back to those albums after having heard bands like Radiohead, Queens Of The Stone Age, Blur and Nine Inch Nails, I actually ended up appreciating their original music more.

As for Amends, while I haven't listened to it in full, the 5 songs I have listened to were underwhelming. The new versions of B12 and Soul Song in particular are just god-awful. Way to undermine your original work like that. Massively disappointed with the new material, unfortunately.

  10. I love Hindsight but I’m not surprised that you don’t like it tbh. Emmure is just a fun band to me and one of the few bands that don’t have great lyrics that I can listen to and have fun with. I do want them to let Joshua Travis do a little bit more though since he’s so talented but I do like his guitar tones on the album a lot and I never really hated nu metal in general so the sound is fine for me. From what I’ve seen from Frankie in interviews, twitch streams, podcasts and meeting him at Warped Tour once he’s actually a pretty cool guy. Good to see you praise Loathe though they’re very underrated and I think they’ll blow up with their next album. I don’t know if you’ve listened to Spirit Box at all but they’re very talented and are starting to get a pretty nice following!!

  11. So for an album that gets a rating of 3, am I to assume the "song to check out" is to check out as the one good track…or the best one to laugh at?

  12. I listened to hindsight and after the first song i was like "ok kinda corny but i like it" when I was done i knew i was never gonna listen to it again 😀 also loathe dropped one of the best deftones albums of the last 10 years, i love it

  13. Frankie seems really cool. I see him on Instagram live and interviews he seems really cool. I did see him with his old band members and it. Definitely seem like a different band. Emmure is differently on one of my high list

  14. I really enjoyed Titans of creation. It's absolutely a stock thrash album, but it's as good as stock can get. The riffs from children of the next level are amazing, the vocals sound great on night if the witch. The production is another thing to love.

  15. I was happy to see you cover Lovebites "Electric Pentagram" as I too very much dig what they do. I'm also with you in the sense that with their full third length album, it does feel like they are treading on similar material. Perhaps capping it to ten songs would have been a good choice but I'm not going to complain about the extra tracks ;). I would have added 'When Destinies Align" and "Raise Some Hell" to the recommended tracks but hey, you have a limited amount of space and I can't argue with your picks either.

  16. Titans of Creation has numerous songs such as Night of the Witch and Children of the Next Level that get stuck in my head pretty easily. I was big on the Loathe album when it came out but haven't hit the replay in awhile. Grey Daze is what it is. Chester's vocals will always have a deep meaning to me whether or not I prefer the more post grunge style of the music.

  17. Emmure as a band is NOT talentless, Frankie just kinda… sucks as a musician and frontman. I’m glad he’s found enlightenment but that doesn’t really fix anything :/

  18. Thanks for the good video Luke, I'm glad you finally got to Loathe, easilly my favorite metalcore album of the year and one of my favorite albums too. At this point I just give it a 10/10, since February I've been bumping it and yeah, it still kicks ass. As for other albums here:
Lovebites delivered probably their least interesting album, which is especially sad because I absolutely loved Awakening From Abyss and new one is pretty good power metal album, but that's about it. Nothing really wrong with being typical especially in genre like this, but I hoped for more. I think I give it a 7/10.
New Testament album is a Testament album alright. Maybe I cared more for it if I was bigger fan of thrash metal. I think I give it 6/10 as well.
The Black Dahlia Murder just DON'T MISS! Even if I consider 4 albums before it to be better (especially Ritual and Abysmal, these are just gold), it's still absolutely killer melodic death metal album that leaves any fan of it satisfied. At least it left me. 7.5/10, just because they done more interesting stuff.
Emmure released…their best album since Speaker of the Dead. In a way it's like Look At Yourself 2.0 with while not too crazy or unique, still generally good metalcore instrumentation delivered by people who actually can play really well (didn't expected less from people who were behind Glass Cloud and Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, I actually expected maybe a bit more, here they don't sound like they have a lot to do) and Frankie just being ruiner of most of it. While it's less of a crybaby and "FUCK HATERS, WAAAAAH" fest like LAY was, lyrically it's still just complainy, whiny, occasionally laughable (like, I think first time when I heard this album I was at my job and at BAD BOYS FOR LIFE part I just laughed out loud like a maniac), but mostly just whatever. Which is probably my biggest problem with this album- for the most part it's just really whatever metalcore from people who can do better and Frankie who is…also there I guess. I take some of the songs and I give them props for making better album than last and waaaaaay better than 2 before it, it sitll doesn't make it good. 4/10.
