Opinion:
Energy will always be needed to fuel and power cities. There's no Utopia in which we magically abscond from using oil and minerals from Earth. Big Companies like Google recognize this.
Hence, they work together with oil companies to maximize the extraction with more efficiency. This reduces the damage from the act of extracting oil. In the long run, maybe even reducing, albeit not completely removing, the impacts on our global climate.
It is impossible to realistically cut oil from our lives (6:15). But minor steps in the right direction beats complaining about the problem.
this is all about money. just tell us that. simple.
Oil is not the problem. Economy is the problem.
