Editing will go to Parasite. It won the ACE. That』s a good precursor. The peach sequence. Ford is getting sound editing I think.
I really don't get how Laura Dern locked away Supporting Actress. She was fine in Marriage Story, but not in the league of ScarJo in Jojo Rabbit. Not even close. Indeed, I didn't see that Dern was any better than any of the other supporting characters in Marriage Story (Alda, Liotta, Haggerty), they all did good jobs.
Did the voters just decide, "It's Dern's time"? I don't get how this happened. But good for her, I like her. But I still don't get it.
1917 is a good film and a typical best picture film. But I』m hoping Parasite makes history and wins both foreign and best film. Regarding the BAFTAs, 1917 is a British film and has the edge with the British awards. Perhaps this 「newer」 group of Oscar voters will push Parasite ahead. Nice banter! I saw all performances and Florence was much more than Lara.
Once Upon a Time was the movie to beat since July, the only movie that comes close is 1917. Parasite was a great film but, just because of inclusion , blah blah blah. It will win best Foreign Picture and maybe a screenplay at best. Director should be Taratino, his due. I'm so tired of the 'one take' talking point. Yes, it was a feat – the trench scene coordination was impressive, with continuous recycling of actors. Jo Jo was funny, heartwarming and suspenseful. The one criticism was a touch too colorful. It's not in my top 3.
1917 and Parasite are both very overrated I think believe one of those movies will win. Yet another year a film will win and be forgotten within a year.
I guess that's a first hearing 1917's effects are "ground-breaking"

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people say that BAFTA have been 'wrong' or 'right'. They've just voted for different films.
I』m pretty sure Noah and Greta would be thrilled for each other if one won and the other didn』t.
People most passionately want Parasite to win. 1917 is the non-statement movie to vote for.
Parasite was put in the regular category just so they wouldn't have to give it to Joker.

This Oscars should be fun. Best Picture is one the hardest awards to predict this year!
