  1. Not only did this 「normalize」 something that is already normal (Hair) but it highlighted a black father』s love and this father daughter bond that you also don』t get to see anymore in representation. The love between the father and mother as well, instead of always highlighting broken family structure. Everything about this was exceptional!!!

  2. Hi, Thank you for posting this. Now I want to see this animated film. Had never heard about it. I'll make it my business to go online and order it.

  3. OMG I'M SO GLAD THEY WON me and my mama loved this short and it's the only few films that actually make me cry I'm so happy CONGRATS! ☆*:.o(≧▽≦)o.:*☆

  4. Wonderful little film. Daddy learns to do daughter's hair with mom's help. Great. I am not black, but my hair acted much the same. My dad's was super kinky and I inherited that. I can remember
my mom grabbing me and just chopping it off while I'm screaming. Her hair was black and straight, so how could she understand mine? Eventually styles changed and I could be proud of my
super kinky, fly away hair. Now I am glad black girls and anyone with kinky hair can fix it into such wonderful styles.

  5. I shared this short film with loads of my friends from many diverse cultures and genders. 100% of them loved it.. It was so brilliant, uplifting, heartwarming, and amazing production quality. This short film deserved an Oscar. These messages of love and overcoming difficulties are so inspiring and much needed in this current climate. I hope they make many more short films. It's admirable this their first nomination and win!!!  Well done your hard work paid off!! Thanks for this gorgeousness.

  6. What the heck! I made it through Hair Love without crying and then I watched this speech right after and now I』m crying!
    Congrats, you all deserve it!

  7. I have shown this short to my third grade class…and we fell in love. Great springboard into discussions of differences and acceptance. They loved it so much, we saw it again.

  8. Now that I have a son, I understand why Hair Love is needed, but we can't stop here. There aren't many diverse characters for the pre-k audience. Super Simple Songs does a decent job, but the others that only show one type of family/group I refuse to let him watch.

  9. Our Hair is already normal! Natural hair is normal People need to stop discriminating against people who are of a different culture or color. How can you hate someone and stop a bright high school kid for graduating based on such a literally superficial basis of hair?

  10. DEAR PEOPLE WHO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS VIDEO AND "OUR HAIR"…ASK YOURSELF WHY? WHY ARE YOU SO CONCERNED WITH OUR HAIR? WHY DID/DO BLACK PEOPLE HAVE TO ASSIMILATE TO WHAT ANOTHER GROUP OF PEOPLE FIND HAIR ACCEPTABLE? WHO ARE YOU AND WHY DOES IT MATTER? IE: SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT THEY FOUND LOCKS UNATTRACTIVE. OK. YOU'RE ENTITLED TO YOUR OPNION/FEELINGS. THAT'S NEITHER HERE NOR THERE. ANOTHER RACES OPINION OF ANOTHER RACES HAIR SHOULD NOT DETERMINE IF THEY CAN MAKE A LIVING, PERIOD. TO THE PERSON WHO GAVE ME AN EXAMPLE OF WHITE MEN NOT BEING ALLOWED TO WEAR THEIR HAIR LONG IN THE 60'S & 70'S , I ASK: WHO WROTE THAT LAW? DID IT FORCE THEM TO ASSIMILATE AND IF SO, HOW HAS IT AFFECTED THE ENTIRE RACE? LAST BUT NOT LEAST…SHOW ME A LAW, AS IT RELATES TO HAIR THAT AFFECTS AN ENITRE RACE OF PEOPLE, WRITTEN BY ANOTHER RACE AND I'LL SHOW YOU OURS!
