  1. Until the rainstorm the Kim family think they are holding all the cards. But when the rain comes and suddenly they're shown how powerless they really are. The flood is a devastating event for the Kims, but instead of being allowed to lick their wounds they're forced back into the parts they've created.

The Parks don't know about the Kims troubles and they don't want to know. The storm that displaced hundreds of poor people in their own city just cleared up the polution for their garden party. It's that what would have set them up for a confrontation even if the old housekeeper hadn't shown up.

  2. Fun fact, if you read the script ( in which I have): Kun Sae, (the crazed man) was supposed to stab Chung sook (the mother) in the arm, and she was to roll into a fire pit. Kun Sae then goes after Ki Tek (the father), almost stabbing him but then getting impaled by Chung Sook with a sizzling hot barbecue skewer. Then Ki Tek stabs Dong Ik with hatchet.

  3. Shouldn't at least one person know the killer's appearance? Kinda impossible to escaped from that crowd without being noticed and charged to Jessica

  4. One thing I find haunting about this is how they managed to antagonize the mostly kind Mr. Park at this very moment when he is completely oblivious to the fact that the man he was yelling at was only trying to save his daughter, turning the audience against him.

I also love that little detail in which Mrs. Kim says the father is like a cockroach who'll hide when trouble comes and Mr. Kim does exactly that after having killed someone in broad daylight.

  5. 4:20 This moment here destroys me. The gravity of what』s just happened hits and he just shuts down and disassociates for a moment before snapping back to reality because he has to make a run for it now. He』s just lost everything and can』t even stop to process it. Brilliant acting from Song Kang-ho. Absolutely devastating.

  6. It』s kinda funny cause the guy who plays Geun-sae (the killer) and chung sook (woman who stabs geun sae with the meat skewer) plays brother and sister in Crash Landing on You ??

  7. Crazy how a film with a SAG Award for Best Ensemble have no acting Oscars. The Kim family Patriarch should have been nominated or Dafoe other than Hopkins

  8. If You Look At All The Ways The Kim Family Got Injured, It Shows What Part Of Them Ended Up Hurting Them.
Kevin Being Injured On His Head. Thinking He Can Join The Upper Class Through The Parks. Getting Hit Again By The Man In The Basement Was Like Saying Don』t Even Think Twice About It. It Will Never Happen.
Jessica Got Stabbed In The Heart Because She Loved Being In The Illusion Of Upper Class Life. When Kevin Said She』d Fit In Perfectly, It Only Breaks Your Heart Knowing She Dies Trying.
Mrs. Kim Being Cut On The Arm Because She Replaced The Former Housekeeping, Being The New Helping Hand Around The Park』s Home. A Mother』s Arms Craddles Her Babies And She Cares And Nurtures Them. She Helped Take Care Of The Park Family And In Doing So, Making Money To Take Care Of Her Own Family. But In Doing So, She Ends Up Forsaking Another Family
Mr. Kim Didn』t Get Injured Physically, But Mentally. By Mr. Park』s Disgust Towards People Like Him. Mr. Park Didn』t Have Much Left In Terms Of Physical Possessions. Yet, His Life (And His Families) Is Less Important Than A Physical Possession Itself (Car Keys/Car). This Brings Him To The Brink Of No Return. If Mr. Kim Had Anything Physical Possessions Left, It Would Be His Family. He Thought He Lost His Son And Is Next To His Dying Daughter In Shock. He Just Watches As His Wife Defends Herself As Well Because He Has No Plan. 「No plan is the best plan.」 This Is Proven False Because His Plan Wasn』t To Kill Mr. Park And Live In Hiding, But Mr. Kim Still Finds A Way To Survive And Live. That』s The Icing On The Cake. The Lower Class Are Forced To Just Survive.
You Can』t Have Your Cake And Eat It Too. Jessica Learned The Hard Way.

  9. Yo, I Think It』s Fucked Up Ki-Woo Survived Because He Got Carried By The Girl Out Of The Murder Scene And Presumably To Medical Help Before Jessica Could Even. But Then You Realize He Wasn』t Meant To See What Was To Come After. If He Did, He Would Lose Any Hope He Would Have At The Ending. Plus He Only Survived Since The Park』s Daughter Got Him Medical Attention. She Was The Only One Who Cared About A Member Of The Kim Family. Like Truly Cared. Love Between Upper And Lower Class Is Usually Shown As Taboo. Also It Sets The Scene For When Mr. Kim Stabs Mr. Park. That Even His Own Daughter Who Is Half The Size As Ki-Woo Can Still Help Him And Be Selfless While Mr. Park Is Screaming At Mr. Kim Over Car Keys While Jessica Is Dying.

  10. I honestly think Da-Hyae, or however u say her name, saw through the unpleasantries of being part of a rich family. It explains why he told "Kevin" to not go down there to talk to the
    " boring people"

  11. the movie also highlights the patriarchal nature , most of the movie da hye is ignored for the younger son, even this scene she is ignored by her parents they focus entirely on the party for their son, this is highlighted in the boy camping on the lawn scene too, da hye messages about her brother while kevin is under the table, both her parents stay up to watch the son camp. da hye carrying her on his back is so moving ..
