  2. Taron Egerton should've been nominated for best actor and Rocketman should've been nominated for best costume design. How come they completely forgot about that movie???

  5. surprised it wasn't Taika Waititi in 5th spot not that i think joker didn't deserve it since that film has great direction but because Taika Waititi got a DGA

  9. Joker getting 11 noms is strange to me. I don』t think it』s worthy of most of those technical categories, and it certainly shouldn』t have been nominated for the directing category. I won』t argue best picture because it』s all subjective but I personally wouldn』t even consider it for a nomination.

  12. I was actually impressed with Jennifer Lopez's performance. She was really snubbed. And I'm sorry but ScarJo didn't deserve two nods. She's the exact same in every movie.

  16. Acting: so many terrific performances left out. I don't think any of the nominees were undeserved, but here are a few who could have gotten in as well. Supporting actress: unfortunately, no one seems to have seen the thought-provoking Luce, where Octavia Spencer gave a terrific, Oscar-caliber (supporting actress) performance. And what happened to Jennifer Lopez, who was supposed to bur a shoo-in? If Knives Out had gotten more love, then Chris Evans might have snuck into one of the supporting actor slots. Pryce was a surprise in the Best Actor sport, as was Banderas (so glad he got in) – so good performances in the Best Actor pool: Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Taryn Edgerton, Christian Bale, even Daniel Craig, just to name a few. No complaints about Best Actress nominees (interesting that they were all Best Dramatic Actress Golden Globe Nominees), but Awkafina also i should have been in the conversation.

  17. Directing: I have to admit up front I am in the minority and did not particularly like Joker, although I thought Phoenix's performance was superb (not my choice for best actor, but I won't be upset if he wins). I get the feeling that the character was his own creation, with very little input from the director. Hence, I don't think Todd Phillips made such a great directorial contribution to the film. I would have liked to see Noah Bambach (Marriage Story), Lulu Wang (The Farewell, which got no love at all from the Academy), or even Pedro Almadovar intuit fifth spot.

  18. Comments on acting/directing to come later. Mildly surprised that Knives Out did not get a Best Picture nod, as it was a popular (box office) and critical success. But only 1 nom (Screenplay) – nothing in production design, cinematography, etc.? 1917: How could you give this particular film a cinematography nod (richly deserved) but not editing!!?? Major snub to Beyonce for her Lion King song.

  19. I am very happy for Scarlett, Florence Pugh and Klaus. Sad for the Farewell. But overall I am very happy with the nominations. 8 of the 9 Best Pictures nominated are in my Top 11 favorites of the year. I don't think it has happened ever.

  22. So happy for the joker movie.. I know it』s getting a lot of hate for having the most nominations but man waking up and seeing that brightened up my day

  23. I don』t see jojo rabbit as a best picture. Don』t get me wrong I liked the movie but I don』t think it』s Oscar worthy. And haven』t seen little women yet.

  26. Man, I know The Academy hates horror, but Midsommar and Us got snubbed.

    Midsommar deserved to be mentioned in the Cinematography category. Us, well, Lupita should have gotten a nod.

    I will even go as far as saying It: Chapter Two could have gotten a nod for best score. Movie is flawed, yup, but the score itself is legit amazing and hauntingly beautiful.

I』m really mad that Shia LaBeouf was not nominated for an Academy award for best original screenplay or an Academy award for best supporting actor I think Noah Jupe should』ve been nominated for best actor for Honey boy and I think Lucas Hedges should』ve been nominated for best supporting actor also along with Shia for Honey boy… Adam Sandler should』ve been nominated for best actor along with Taron Egerton. Robert Pattinson should』ve been nominated for best actor and Willem Dafoe should』ve been nominated for best supporting actor or best actor for the White House and Robert Eggers should』ve been nominated for best director for the lighthouse…

  31. Great video, Austin. While I thought overall the noms were good, I think they're some huge snubs like Rise of Skywalker over Endgame at original score ? I mean really ? Secondly, while Joker is a great film, 11 noms seems a bit much especially in certain categories and I'd easily replace it with The Lighthouse in best picture.

  32. I definately think that Joker should not be in adapted sceenplay because it not no adapted from any comic .. sure it is based on dc comics joker and all but Tod changed the whole the story according to him.

  37. Watch MY HERO ACADEMIA man you won't forget the experience..
    Right now it is at it's peak…i won't recommend to anyone since you watch anime i think you will love the show alot
