  3. Jennifer Lopez got snubbed. ? She's an awful actress & everyone picking her as a winner must feel pretty.stupid after the Oscar announcements. ?

  5. The reason Irishmen didn』t make the makeup shortlist is probably the same reason it was able to make it onto the effects shortlist.. The effects for Irishmen are all about the aging they did to the actors faces to make them look younger or older. The argument for a makeup nomination for the film would also be predicated on the work the makeup artists did to age the actors. Yes, the makeup and effects work together and go and hand in hand but with so much publicity about the films use of visual effects to manipulate the age of the actors appearance it kind of convolutes the argument for a makeup nomination (with some voters thinking where does the makeup artists work end and effects begin? For instance).

    And let』s remember it』s makeup artists who are deciding the nominations for makeup and who made the shortlist, it』s not hard to believe that some of these voters view the use of visual effects technology in the way it』s used in Irishman as a direct threat to their line of work.. for generations Hollywood has used makeup artists to do things like change an actors appearance to correspond to a specific age, the technology used in Irishman makes the case that that may not be needed in the future as the technology is improved and perfected. It』s not hard to see a future where visual effects are used to to do other things to actors faces that used to be done by makeup artists (lengthening or shortening an actors nose, chin, ears, etc, etc).

  12. I honestly don't think the Academy knows the difference between sound editing and sound mixing, that's why usually nominations are always the same for both. I could see Rocketman being nominated for both, as BR was.

  14. I hope Song Kang-Ho , Florence Pugh and Zhao Shu-Zhen can be nominated ! Then Florence Pugh should be nominated for leading role for Midsommar.

  17. Saoirse won AACTA, and has been nominated for BAFTA over Awkwafina and Erivo. And BAFTA and AACTA voters also vote Oscars. That's why she's 5th spot.
    Also she's the only person who can beat Zellweger, if she gets Oscar nomination. You need to check AACTA winners/nominees' accuracy if they're not Australians.

  19. Really not on board with the Laura Dern train. She always seems to just play herself. Florence or Margot have it for me. Much rounder, more realised characters.

  22. I know Joker won for original score at the oscars but omg I saw 1917 tomorrow and the score was just amazing. It really felt like u were crossing the German frontline in WW1. I also just recently saw joker again and I also love the score for that, it makes u feel that darker mindset of Arthur. I』m just so conflicted about these score but honestly I believe in 1917 taking the Oscar for original score.
    And I love your channel and comment section, I love people who understand film.

  23. Parasite has no chance of winning best picture because of the announcement of the HBO series coming. Also, the lighthouse and US will get 0 nominations. If you don』t like it, suck it

  24. No way is Laura Dern winning an Oscar for that. She will not be the only one to win for acting in that movie. Florence Pugh or Scarlett for Jojo is a definite imo

  26. I don』t understand the love that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is getting as I found it to be quite dull – especially the last two thirds. And the revisionist ending was disrespectful to the people who died that night.

  28. why does everyone go with Awkwafina? Her winning GG wasn't "huge" at all, she had no competition, we knew she'd win before they announced the nominees. And GG is the only thing she got, is she really ahead of Erivo, or even Lupita? I'm also snatching Irishman for cinematography, but not sure what to go with instead, Portrait of the Lady on Fire? The Lighthouse is 2nd behind 1917, they love b&w and niche films in this category

  29. The Lighthouse should've at least gotten best original screenplay nom, and Robert Eggers for best director nom, and Robert Pattinson for best actor nom
    And Parasite should've gotten best cinematography nom

  34. Idk how people can still believe that Parasite will win best picture at the oscars after the globes. I loved the film but I』m also not delusional

  35. Antonio Banderas actually showed the second best acting behind only Phoenix. He was way better than overrated DiCaprio or even Driver. Adam Sandler was better than them too. Scarlett Johansson doesn't deserve to be in both categories. She isn't even that great as an actress. Im happy for Laura Dern but I'd love J.Lo to win the Oscar. Her performance was more memorable

  37. I wish than Lupita, Saoirse and Awkafina get a nomination for Best Actress but the competition it's hard this year. Also, The Farewell / The Lighthouse in Best Picture, Dafoe and Song Kang-Ho in supporting actor, Zhao Suzhen in supporting actress, and Booksmart in original screenplay. That would be a dream for me.

  38. C'mon now! Naming 10 movies is cheating. Predict the exact number! I got 8 getting in. Your 10 minus Ford v Ferrari and Little Women. (Unless you are predicting all ten getting in)
