Rebel is on the red carpet. Did Cats get nominated for best VFX. Because it should. Regardless of whether or not you like the film you can't deny those VFX were amazing. Ground breaking even. Crazy how realistic they looked. But it probably didn't get nominated due to the flack it got and would look bad on the academy for nominating it even in a visual capacity. It's a shame. Blue stick people are considered groundbreaking but the most visually realistic humanoid cats ever made isn't? You gotta question the politics of film when one film does something just as good or maybe even better than another and doesn't get any credit for it. All because of whose name is attached to the film or whatever causing certain works to get overrated despite being unoriginal or bland or underrated despite being original and fresh and powerful. Not saying that Cats is some epic(I haven't seen it) but I don't need to in order to recognize the visual accomplishment there. The promotional material alone tells you.
