  1. If only the Oscars were run by sassy skeletons from their sheds. They'd have more perspective on the film industry as a whole than the people running the shitshow. What a dream…

  2. Bad line: "Like songs?" Better line: "Oh, what kind of music?" Boom, did it. Much more natural and less stupid. Maybe it's because I have writing experience, but let's not kid ourselves.

I'm glad there was discussion of Joker at the very get-go. It's one of those movies I find to be impossible to watch, because unfortunately I grew up in a household with a career psychologist (who is now a regional auditor for the prison system's psychology department in a region of California I will keep anonymous) and so most movies with some psychological element to their character seem to display an ineptitude for basic mental health issues often integrated into dumb pseudo-political commentary. The reason I think they do it is because it comes off as deep and interesting since nobody has any actual experience in the subjects being handled. Hell, that's probably why we never know why the world is actually the way it is in these sorts of pictures. The less the audience actually knows then the more plausible it will seem. Great logic.

  3. I think Joker was set in the late 70s/early 80s in the rise of neoliberal policies which kinda explains (or at least gives a little context) to the protests and riots that happened in the movie. Although I agree that it has some problems with the message.
