California needs an organization like Clearbrook, but instead of supporting disabled people, they would cater to poor people.
That』s insane to leave all those homes vacant when people could be off the street. I say leave them in the houses. In fact if the governor won』t let them live there he should try living on the street. And those yelling about them being a squatters should walk a mile in their shoes. I』m sure none of those folks said when they were little 「I want to grow up and be homeless and be called a squatter.」 To those doing the yelling you should try reading the Golden Rule. And then take it to heart.
Homelessness is caused by property speculation on rich investors part. The society must understand always root causes of all the problems. There are perpetrators, and victims. It's not just drug and gambling addiction that cause homelessness. It's oy a phenomenon.
Not too many good things happening today, but this is a good thing.
This is what should have been done long ago… we've created a selfish world of GREED…. but that cannot go on any more.
Trouble is everybody wld want affordable housing if many got it and ppl wld work less hours if it went on income basis. Its flawed
That's really hard to see that these people can't afford housing for themselves, especially the children. On the other hand, I can also see if you happened to have people move in who were drug dealers and criminals you would feel unsafe and victimized. I hope responsible solution will be found.
In California you only work to pay rent, that's it. So if you buy food you don't pay rent.
I have a theory, hear me out. In order to inflate and keep housing prices up, Caltrans is being used as a middleman for the California government. I'm thinking something like,
– California collects property taxes
– California funds Caltrans
– Caltrans buys houses to either raise the value of the neighborhood or keep the value from falling.
– value of the house dictates an increase in property taxes
– California collects property taxes
They need to put skid row people in these houses who really need a home to recover. Not people who have relatives with space. Skid Row folks get toothbrushes & honey buns – never any housing. What a shame this is.
Soooo the rest of us have to break our backs paying rent when we could have just shouted about society being unfair and forcing our way into unclaimed homes…. smh

People stop worrying about other people problems and focus on your own situation. If you couldn't afford to live in your house or apartment would you go live on the streets or a shelter with this virus killing thousands everyday or would you break into a clean house to protect yourself and family. ???
Good for those families that are homeless to have a safe place to stay. I lived in California for 30 years and I suffered because it is to expensive to live there.

ya everyone saying this is great unless it was your own house. Homeless people often suffer from drug addiction, they are often involved in crime, if u want ur second house to be taken by a bunch of homeless drug addicts then u are full of shit. This is theft. The government should do their best to support them, these people are not entitled to others property. People in the comments supporting the state stealing property and redistributing it is absolute madness.
This is the problem with people just buying property to sell it for more in the future, but doesn't live in it or rent it out.

Not everyone can afford to live in bel air and not everyone can afford California. You can't expect housing prices to tank for you. For affordable housing to be the norm housing would have to fall by $200,000 plus leaving millions upside-down on mortgages. Landlords and homeowners should not have to suffer for her lack of life planning. People like her should leave the state. There is plenty of affordable housing outside California.And for for needing government assistance in affording housing it is called section 8 and she can get in line with the rest of us who can't even get a voucher. Why is it always the same type of people who cut in line tresspassing because they feel poor and entitled. Those homes should go back to the original owners.
