Freesync*???is NOT Freesync Ultimate Technology, without any asterisks needed. This is important for anyone looking for true next gen support!

Currently AMD doesn't have a SINGLE gpu that works with gsync displays. So lg is slapping together, their idea of what that support would be. It's not certified by AMD in any aspect of the word. So much so, that lg put an asterisk next to freesync* on their website. It's fake freesync, and a dedicated freesync tv is better. The only lg that meets this requirement is the ZX. Otherwise, you have to look at Samsung and vizio.

So many people don't realize, G-SYNC Compatible means, it's a watered down gsync experience lol, validated as being good enough. Which basically means no flickering lol. Funny enough, those same people don't know that LFC or low framerate compensation, can actually turn off adaptive sync lol, so hardware optimization is key. Unless lg put an existing freesync 2 module in the display, it will be piggybacking off of a lesser form of freesync technologies. This is why buying a freesync tv is the best way to go. But what do I know lol. I'm only a professional calibration specialist. ✌??

Next gen consoles are built with AMD freesync ultimate technology at the forefront. Doesn't it make more sense to buy a tv with the AMD freesync ultimate technology as the primary vrr tech? Who wants freesync* over freesync ultimate? Just because something can be patched in, doesn't mean it's as good as full manufacturer optimization day 1.

For example, Nvidia has game ready drivers, allowing for hdmi 2.1 support, and Gsync compatibility on freesync ultimate tvs, with RTX 20 series and GTX 16 series GPUs. That doesn't mean, it will be equivalent to an Nvidia Gsync display like the BFGD, or the new RTX 3000 series, with freesync support in mind day 1, at the manufacturer level.

It's a different animal when you buy tech that needs a patch to work, versus buying tech that was made for using your specific devices day 1. It's like when the base ps4 added hdr. Yes it works, but it's not nearly as good as the real deal.

  2. Hi. I』m a little confused. I』ve seen a lot of comments online that state that the main thing is that both the new consoles with support the standard HDMI VRR so shouldn』t the LG』s be fine as they will also support this? Pretty much had my mind set on getting either the 48」 or 55」 CX or even the 55」 8K Nano95 when it comes out later this year. But this will obviously make me think again.

  3. I have until April 29 to return my CX. You really think they won』t add that feature in an update? The th should have all the hardware necessary to be able to just do an update.

  4. I'm pretty sure this is incorrect. For example the current xbox one x, which uses amd technology, supports vrr without any freesync implementation. Also when microsoft announced the xbox series x they talked about vrr without any mention of freesync.

  5. I think I accidentally made perfect choices, or hopefully I did. I bought two Samsung Q80s for bright rooms and future consoles last year. This year I plan to buy the LG CX for PC Gsync (48"). Sounds like this was the right move as the console support for LG is questionable. I do hope they provide at least some kind of support for the consoles later this year.

  6. Wow almost bought that TV!!! I got a Xbox one X, I wanna max this out but also get a monitor ready for series X, what can I get on market now that would be best ?

  7. This is interesting I was considering getting the LG CX, but now not sure thanks to this video.
I do have a very nice PC but have an nice ultra wide for that, was looking to get a TV for consoles

So now looking at Samsungs new QLED: QN55Q90TAFXZA
Looks to be an upgraded model from last years Q90 with freesync and hdmi 2.1 on the 4th input

anyone think there is a better QLED on the market? Or, should I wait?

  8. Not saying you're wrong but isn't one of the features of HDMI 2.1 VRR? VRR is not the same as Freesync and if the new consoles uses HDMI 2.1 wouldn't you just have to have a TV with HDMI 2.1 support and you can use that feature?

  9. From flatpanelshd cx review:

"There are some caveats here. LG's TVs are 'G-Sync Compatible', which is another word for basic level support. You can get HDR VRR from a Nvidia graphics card via HDMI VRR (over HDMI 2.0). HDMI 2.1 VRR also supports HDR but it remains to be seen if there are any limitations in LG's TV when used together with for example Xbox Series X. AMD FreeSync support will be added via a later firmware update and LG informs FlatpanelsHD that they are in business discussions with AMD about what level of FreeSync to support."

  10. Quantum, off topic. But do you have a 2020 buyers list or 2019 buyers list? Looking for a 75 currently coming from a LG OLED. TY for the great content and the only reviewer keeping it real. ?

  11. Thanks for the honesty and looking out for us. Definitly will be on the lookout for the Vizio Oled, especially considering the price point the 55 inch CX came in at, which is going to make that screen size very competitive.

  12. Hey man i love your channel but I would have to disagree on this is true that rtx 2080 have some dips into the 40 frames at 4K and future consoles won』t have the same power as the top of the line nvidia has but I』m very confident that almost all games will run 4K 60 (optimization in consoles are very good look at the Xbox one x 6tflops and all the games at 4k it can run ) pc gaming will always have the advantage of having the most powerful hardware always but I』m confident this generation of console will run all games 4k60 despite being less powerful than a rtx 2080( as you said not even that graphics card can run all games 4k60) just my opinion you don』t have to agree with me love your channel and your are the best in what you do

  13. Good info my friend I』m planning to use the q8fn with the Xbox series x . What』s your advice on a gaming moniter currently I』m using a alianware gaming moniter would that be good with the ps5 1080p 240z .

  14. Thanks for the info, I had missed that little tidbit about free sync on lg tv. I do plan on upgrading my tv, currently have a lg 50pa6500-ug 50in plasma from 2012. I love it but Its time is approching. Will use it till it dies like my old plasma wich got me 7 years of use. I'm hoping Vizio does well when they come out later this year. They looked like they wanted to be the gamer tv to go to.

Question for you. If my tv died right now what tv would you recommended to some for a replacement. For 65in to 75in in size and for gaming mostly and movie watching second. price $2500-3000

  15. Would you recommend Sony』s new 2020 OLED displays for next gen gaming on the PS5/XSX based off of what we know about them (i.e. no HDMI 2.1 etc.)?
