  2. @1:10:40, I think this sentiment is missing the point of the next gen consoles. It is not about the TFLOPs it is about the visuals and load times and audio. There is even far more to performance in games than TFLOPs that TFLOPs are completely meaningless. What will drive people the PS5 and XBox SX are the new features they will come with; and both will have (1) optimisations for raytracing (2) HDR (3) near zero load times being on SSD (4) 3d and raytraced audio (5) backwards compatibility (6) native 4K 60hz-120hz support (7) AI assisted upscaling and image enhancements

    Mark Cerny in his presentation talked about having 5.5Gb/s SSDs and using that SSD as additional system RAM to be able to load in larger game worlds. If you're used to consoles, you probably don't understand what this means, but PC gamers have been using SSDs for almost 10years and now there are games like Star Citizen that you can't even run without and SSD. However what you should note about Mark Cerny's talk on the SSD is that, the required 5.5Gb/s speed, is much faster than practically every single PC gamer's SSD and at least 2x faster than what the XBox Series X will have. On top of that Sony will be curating expansion NVVMe SSD, that are at least as fast as the 5.5Gb/s the PS5 requires! The XBox SX APUs will be going into XCloud, because it is expected that Microsoft are launching a cheaper streaming only console too. Microsoft are also integrating the XBox into PC with a view to pretty much make all XBox games available to PC.

    Stadia should definitely be concerned and need to release upgrades this year. Remaining on a 3 generations old Vega GPUs when everyone is on RDNA2x would be an extremely stupid thing for Stadia to do. All the stupid upscalling and non-native 4K stuff will have to go. They can currently get away with it because very few graphic cards on the market now can do 4K@60hz. But With AMD's RDNA2x going into the consoles and coming to PC, 4K@60hz will become the normal.

    Even the idea that games aren't going to be using the new features for at least a year assumes a lot this is actually no longer valid. Remember, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus, and a few other games are already using ray tracing, and we have probably the biggest game everyone is waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 coming out with ray tracing. It would be naive to assume that when that game is released for these consoles (expected around Thanksgiving) ray tracing will not be a feature that is enabled. Microsoft already said Gears 5 does have raytracing in it, and remember they are the ones behind DX12 and DXR so it will be naive to think that Microsoft are not going to be pushing raytracing hard in the XBox Series X. Microsoft you can guarantee will have raytracing at XBox Sereis X launch. Also remember that Mark Cerny in his presentation spoke about a PS5 game that was using ray traced reflections showing very good performance. Sony may not be talking about it much yet because they would rather talk about the insanely fast SSDs and their 3D-audio, but no one should be under the illusion that PS5 will also not have raytraced games at launch or shortly thereafter. These guys never launch a console without a killer app that sells glimpses of everything the console is capable of. It will be no different this time round, so the Stadia team should definitely be concerned if they have not yet started working on rolling out serious hardware upgrades.

  3. Wait a minute, are most of the cast disgruntled Xbox players? Kinda feels like that, which is fine but the slight digs at PS doesn't really show the communities best side.
    That last part is key, cuz I'm used to the high velocity bs in PS/Xbox discussions. And I don't want it on Stadia.

  4. What do you think of the chance of a big AAA exclusive dropping for the service this year?
    Any rumors of any announcements?

    The Division 2 was a good get, but I think dropping Base and the announcement of a major exclusive would benefit the service 10x over.

  5. Dude, have any of you seen a GDC talk before (Cerny/PS5 deep dive)? That shit is slow and super technical.
    I really hope Stadia will improve immensely this year since both Xbox and PS will release new boxes with super high fidelity games at higher fps.

    No load times at all is promised with PS5. Instant open worlds et c.
    God i hope Stadia will step up their game 🙂

  6. Pro sub for wireless play (just for phones and laptops/PC) is so bloody dumb if true. Talk about going from last place up to first place and then, shoot yourself in the foot with an RPG.
