I totaly agree with you, I learned socket.io the hard way, I was a junior dev back then and didn't knew what ping and pong ment until a major bug popped up. Those were good old days??

The problem is that there is a lack for tutorials on the fundamentals and on the other hand, the specs are really hard to read.

Totally agree… making a bunch of "upgrade" requests just to get into vanilla wss connection is not efficient thing to do. And 400+ open issues with almost no development which also mainly is done via single person is a smell to me. 🙂

I think Http takes min 8 kb for single request, how much socket utilise resource(kb or byte). What is the pros & cons of ajax over websocket.
So if u can make video on resource utilization by websocket.
