I've been sewing 50 years and never knew this. It will certainly help me in my chain mask production. Thank you.
Ive watched videos on automotive upholstery and one man i seen was doing this too.
I love watching your video's and learning a new skill each time, Thankyou xxx
I'm very grateful for this instructional video. After making oodles of baby blankets for new grandbabies, I decided that i really enjoy sewing in straight lines! I bought my first charm pack to start my beginner quilt. I will try this technique! Thank you!
I do chain piece but I must be the only person who does not let my chains grow too long. I do not like cutting the pieces apart. To me it's annoying and time consuming. Instead, I cut apart pieces every couple of blocks or so.
Simple. But it's the first tutorial on I've seen. Thank you.
Great video Laura! Chain piecing certainly saves time….. and thread. It is suprising how much thread is discarded otherwise.
Hi Laura, I tried chain stitching while making masks and it really does save me time as I make a lot of masks! thanks for all your tips! I also love to make fat quarter surgical caps and drawstring bags you are a great mentor!
Love watching you.
I would like to know the tool you are using to hold or push the material. Thank you
Thank you Laura ?
How』s your new sewing room coming, Laura? I cannot wait to see your dream space. ? Chris-Raleigh NC
Thank you Laura for all your videos. It's a pleasure to watch and learn from you. Any progress in your new sewing room?
I love chain piecing… I can sit back and forget about my troubles ?
I love this method and wish I had known about it years ago! Wonderful explanation as always. ?
I always stitch with extra thread between pieces. It helps to keep the seams in tact and the seams don't seperate.
Laura, you have great tips. Are you in your new sewing space yet?
I've never tried chain piecing but after seeing this, I certainly will! I'll save time and thread!
I』ve tried this before but I worry that my stitches will unravel by not back stitching at the start and end? ?
Thank you❣️ I LOVE your page♥️☀️♥️☀️
Laura, such a good video, thank you ❤️?
Laura. I love love love all your videos. I wish I could talk to you to tell you my story and how exactly you've helped me. I've sewn all my life, but I actually wore out my machine and quite a few years went by before I replaced it. When I did, I sort of struggled with things that I knew, I knew, but had not put into practice in a number of years. Some of your videos show me new things, some jog my memory on standard skills. Thank you for even the simple videos because even an accomplished sewer can use some help from time to time.

Yes it is a good time saver, good video
I have been chain piecing for years but never use a piece of waste fabric at the beginning and end, that is wasteful and unnecessary. Just keep a stack of 2.5」 squares beside your machine and at the end of your chain stitching sew 2 together, leaving your needle down, ready for your next line of stitching. Before you know it those two patches can become four patches and you have parts for another quilt without even thinking about it! This method saves time and lots of thread.
Thanks! I use it as much as I can. First saw it on one of quilt videos and it is a great time and thread saver.
♥️♥️♥️♥️
I was told never to sew without thread under the foot by Baby Lock dealer because it can scratch the bottom of the foot. I chain piece, but leave almost no space at all.
I love your videos.
I am happy that you made this video, Laura, because I now guess people do not know about chain-piecing. My grandmother taught me how to do this when I first started sewing (and I started sewing in the last century).
Thank you for the instruction. It also says thread. What are the name of the snips you use? I would love a pair.
Hi Laura, I have learned so much from you throughout the years. Now my daughter is taking a sewing elective for her senior year. She knows basic stitches, but I was able to find the series you taught last summer, and I just can't thank you enough. I love how detailed and clear your instructions are. I have made a few quilts following your videos. May the Lord continue to bless you, as you bless so many. Thank you!???
Thankyou Laura ! Always a good idea, thanks for sharing.
Excellent demonstration of chain piecing. ❤️ I do that every chance I get. Dritz makes a handy little plastic basket with a thread cutter in the handle. As long as you leave a few threads in between like Laura shows, you can quickly and easily cut between the items chained together. Laura, maybe you could demonstrate that in a notions segment. The basket also has magnetic sides and the space inside the basket holds a few items like a thimble and thread.
