Thanks again for all of the discussion/demonstration build lessons!!! Start the race to 200k! ATB
Nice work Joe …
And not an RCH in sight … ??
Brilliant setup and explanation. Thanks once again!
I had that "flop" problem on the Y axis and I overcame it by replacing the chromed steel handle with a very much lighter aluminium one that I made – the only drawback to this is that the aluminium makes for a dirty hand!. The X axis also suffered from this symptom because the manufacturer had cut the handle key ways such that the handles were on the same throw so I cut a new key way in one of the handles at 180 degrees opposed, thus placing the handles opposite to each other giving perfect balance and hence removed any "flop" tendency. Your videos are very instructive as to how one should evaluate a casting to get a good balanced outcome for all the required machined surfaces and absorb the inevitable casting inaccuracies.
Thank you for all the trouble you go to with these videos to impart your knowledge and experience – it is very much appreciated.
Gotta get me some of those Mitutoyo calibrated rubber bands…
42:15 Is there a rule of thumb for how many threads are necessary for a fastener to achieve the rated strenght?
AvE ain't got nothin' on Joe Pie's focus skills. I think I may need some Dramamine after this… lol. Good stuff, man.
You have 100k subs. Please get a better microphone, it would increase quality of your videos so much. People can sit through poor resolution, but low audio quality is just something else…
Thanks Joe. Another video of yours that I've saved to my playlist to watch over again. Love your teaching style. Direct and so respectful. ????? Joel…..
cool//
Double like!
Hey Joe, I am enjoying your training videos as I have recently acquired an interest in small steam engines. Your detailed explanations are much appreciated. I would like to try the PMR kit that you are doing and wondering if you plan on doing videos to the completion of the engine? I hope so.
Crawl cutting kinda guy?
Thanks Joe for sharing your methods.
Dear Joe, thank you for sharing your know-how: for instance the boss you quickly make to seat in the castings.. just a real pro approach! Clamping, taking messurement and doing the opperations all at once: genius. Looking forward to learn as much as possible. In the meanwhile stay save. Greatings from Switzerland
Drilling and tapping holes in the raised center rib of the fixture would allow the use of a hold down across the body. Any thoughts on why or why not to do it?
Jo, from Spain congratulations on your 100K! I would propose to celebrating this accomplishment with a new SOUND system ?
Excellent work as always.
Joe, 43 years of experience here and you taught me a few things in just this one video.
I say to the next generation. What you learn in this series here applies to everything, everything you do.
This is more than a model, it is an education. 1/20 horsepower or 1,200 the principles are the same.
Keep up the excellent work Joe!
Joe. Seriously. I love your work but while you are a machining genius your video work doesn't do you proud. An y chance you could get a video expert to come in and help you with the camera?
David Richards : old steam powered machine shop 43 designing a steam engine slide valve. This video will explain all the parts movement and their relationship to each other. Thanks joe
Thanks joe !!! Awesome wood model video!
Nice. Having everything symmetrical is always better even if majority of people will never realise how much work went into it. Nice to also see someone who realises there are plenty of people out there who don't have DRO's.
Thinking of what colour to paint it yet?
Once again knocked it out of the park!
very nice. always a honor to watch a craftsman work at any trade
Thank you!!!
Thank you for your time and effort. Congratulation on your milestone.
Thanks as always for the videos Joe. It』s great to follow along.
Joe, thanks so much for your tutorials. I am attempting to make a PMR #1 engine, and I have been struggling. Your videos have provided me with some significant insight and techniques to help me move forward. Your approach to understanding the castings before actually setting up on the machine tools was a huge revelation – and I now realize so very fundamental to the process. Thanks so much, and all the best.
Congratulations on the 100k mark Joe.
Would of liked to see some video of the initial setup. Your description of the cheese plate didn't make immediate sense to me. Nice to see how a professional machines castings. Think I'll pick up this model myself.
fricking fantastic! Keep it up man ?
Nice setup, thanks for sharing
