Retro Studios Ramps Up Development of Metroid Prime 4 And Days Gone Sales Surprise | News Wave

Retro Studios is focusing heavily on Metroid Prime 4 after development restarted at the beginning of this year. Before it appeared that an internal studio in Japan with the help of Bandai Namco had been working on it. Now it looks like Retro Studios is moving to hire tons of developers and testers to get Metroid Prime 4 done. Days Gone was released on Friday with average reviews, however with just 2 days on the market in the UK it managed to outsell Mortal Kombat.

  2. Super metroid prime…please devs thats what we need.
    Same areas same music same weapons, just 3d prime style. Imagine with todays tech how that story would be. If i had a couple million i wouldn't buy a bugatti, i would build that game and satisfy a fanbase that need it. My soul is hurt here.

  7. Nice to see Days Gone doing well. The poor reviews seem to be a combination of SJW's being unhappy that their ideological boxes weren't checked by this game and idiots who expect every 1st party Sony title to be an epic masterpiece. I'm enjoying it greatly and I'm glad to see that a lot of other people are as well.

  24. MP4 is definitely not coming before 2021, that's for sure.
    (edited) yeah, I'm betting on 2022 because of how someone from the dev team years ago said a Metroid Prime game takes at least three years to make, but I'm guessing since they already had something to work with, 2021 is possible, but who knows how much they threw out.
    Nintendo said they're starting from scratch, but that doesn't necessarily stop them from using character models and the like.

  26. MK11 is selling worse than MKX because of its grind and, and we cannot emphasize this enough, people don't want a Mortal Kombat that caters to self-proclaimed moral guardians.

  31. I trust Retro to do great with Metroid Prime 4. Shame it might be another year or so, but hey, as Miyamoto said, "A Rushed game will be Forever bad, but a Delayed Game will be eventually good"

  32. I couldn't get into Days Gone. I put 10+ hours into the game but I'm done. Its just not very interesting, doesn't do much of anything new, and gets tedious quickly.

  36. But if the 3DS is done, what's replacing it? According to fanboys, Switch is only replacing Wii U, not the 3DS, so what's going to replace the 3DS???

  39. I want a proper 3rd person Metroid open world game made by Nintendo themselves with that Nintendo magic. I get back in the day the BigN needed a big budget 1st person shooter to compete with Halo, Killzone, COD etc and outsourced it to Retro paid them alot of $ to make it good and slapped the Metroid name and universe on it for recognition. That』s fine I get it and the Prime games were outstanding. But this is now. After BOTW and SMBO I could just imagine what Nintendo could do with one of its oldest and most cherished franchises. It』s a shame actually that we』re getting another 1st person Prime game.

NBA PG2 getting Crossplay is very nice too see, ashame the game is full microtransactions. 9.8m using the Switch Online doesn't seem too bad but I thought it would be closer too 50% tho. I passed up on FF10/10-2 for now but FF12 I've got coming and I am looking forward too playing it on the Switch. KH3 getting DLC nice stuff :-). Really can't wait for MP4 and Retro Studios working on it 👌, 2021 I think it'll release and 2022 at the very latest. Days Gone No.1 in the UK Charts is cool too see and I think MK11 was sold more Digitally but I could be wrong tho. Sad too see the 3DS go but makes sense cuz the Switch is the better system. Epic defo trying too be the good guys lol.
