The Trojan van and the Brooke Bond Tea livery go hand in hand. Brooke Bond agreed a deal in the 1920s with the small British vehicle manufacture to provide tea delivery vans and they became a frequent sight on British roads from then until the mid-1960s.

The 47A 1 Ton Trojan Van by Lesney spanned five years in the Matchbox range and during that time changed little. It originally had metal wheels fitted before quickly switching to grey plastic. Other than that a transfer of axles from crimped to rounded ends, the only other change to a minority of models was silver trim to the grille. Real Trojan vans had body painted grilles, so this late addition was less realistic.

My example had a silver grille, but for the purposes of this build, I reverted to realism and went with the far more popular style without grille trim.
