马来西亚的马哈蒂尔谈贸易战，并承诺下台|与半岛电视台交谈

马哈蒂尔·穆罕默德（Mahathir Mohamad）从1981年至2003年担任马来西亚总理22年。但这位94岁的老政客几年前重返政界，反对他曾经参加的国阵（国阵）的政治力量。自1957年脱离英国独立以来，马来西亚一直统治着马来西亚。

在马哈蒂尔（Mahathir）出任马来西亚总理期间，该国经历了快速现代化和经济增长的时期，该时期为该国多样化的人口。现在，成千上万的穆斯林，印度教徒，佛教徒和基督徒在该国并肩生活。

他还谈到了该国的外交政策和对全球市场的需求，并指出当美国对伊朗实施制裁时，马来西亚输掉了一个大市场。

“我们不相信实行制裁来迫使各国接受某些意识形态并改变政府。不仅是特定国家将遭受痛苦，而且所有贸易伙伴也将在经济上遭受痛苦。从某种意义上说，这是一种形式比一个国家更糟的独裁政权是国际性的。”

马来西亚总理还讨论了全球经济状况及其相互联系。他辩称，在多边主义方面，美国正在朝着错误的方向领导世界。

马哈蒂尔在评论中美贸易战时说：“贸易战并不能解决任何问题。它们只会使人民和与战争无关的其他人产生反抗。如果您遵循经济规则，就会涉及太多政治……也许您可以用比对抗和破坏对方更好的方式解决问题。”

他说：“成为一个非常民族主义的人是好事。但不能以牺牲他人为代价。每个国家都应该在乎自己，但是需要保护或保障并不意味着要与他人面对。如果我们学会共同努力，那就更好了。”半岛电视台。 “我们向多边主义走了很长一段路。但是现在民族主义似乎影响了许多国家。”

对于任何领导者而言，无论他们在办公室中的表现如何，问题之一都是何时离开政治舞台以及接下来将发生什么。

这位马来西亚领导人暗示他可能会寻求在2020年以后继续执政，并表示他无法保证谁能继任总理。当被问及他是否会在2020年卸任时，他说他想解决上届政府提出的问题，然后辞职-计划在2025年至2030年之间实现一项新的经济计划。

他说：“这次我们希望所有人都受益，而不是任何特定的群体。”

Tun.Dr.Mahathir may take the credit of what malaysia is now,.but this could have not been possible without the hard work of the minority ethnic Chinese and ethnic Indians, who have given their blood and sweat to make the Malaysia what it is right now. However, the minorities have been given a raw deal by Malaysian constitution all these years by not been given equal status as that of a Malay national ( Bumiputra) in terms of competing in top constitutional posts of Malaysia.

    Till now, Malaysian citizen from the minority community ( ethic Chinese or ethnic indians ) cannot become a Chief Justice or Army chief or prime minister or any prime posts and have been looked down upon as second class citizens.. although they have been inclusive and continue to give unflinching support in every bit of development of Malaysia in all spheres of it's flamboyant growth process.

    Before Tun.Dr.Mahathir retires,.he must enable the process of constitutional reform process so as to integrate minorities as well to be allowed at par with Malay nationals to enjoy every fruit of the constitution made available without any bias to caste, creed or race differences.
