  3. Hi, this is the comment from HK. Thank you Samantha for putting so many efforts into summarising the HK current situation for the past 6months and tried to arouse the awareness in Unite States. We will fight til the end for the true democracy and freedom. Please stand with HK, we need international help.

  4. ten minute segment expressing one POV in hong kong, that's nice. what about everyone else? who thinks this silly Act is going to make things worse because what has hong kong ever gained from being a pawn in between two superpowers? hong kong is only ever going to be a bargaining chip for the US. and throwing petrol bombs in the street isn't going to bring human rights to china. i don't think so anyway. you think you're on the right side of history? i guess we'll find out.

  9. Sam, I get what you're going for, but drawing analogies between the situations in Hong Kong and the US is pretty nonsensical, and a huge disservice to the HK protestors. These guys are protesting because they are on the verge of being absorbed into communist China, and thereby losing many fundamental rights. Trump may be horrible to you guys, but the US is definitely not on the verge of losing its democratic status and the fundamental rights of citizens are definitely well protected. As someone from a developing country, it really irks me when I see Americans draw nonsensical parallels like this. Sorry if anyone is offended by this. I know many people just want to help out but I just wanted to point out that drawing these parallels is definitely not helpful.

  12. Congratulations, protesters. You just got played by Samantha Bee. Honestly, I don't know whether to be amused or sad that they got put into political satire when they think they are fighting to "save" their city.

    Edit: Can someone figure out which "mayor" Joshua Wong was referring to? The footage shown didn't look like Michael Bloomberg.

  13. Glad they were able to get the sanction through but having an American president being able to decide who can be sanctioned or punished? US still has deals with China so I do wonder how effective it would be cause I can see some backdoor phone calls occur and Hong Kong won't get to punish those who are abusing the system.

  15. I am in awe at how brainwashed they are. The solidarity is amazing but again…so incredibly destructive to the livelihood of the City….can you just toss
    Insults to a great power….burn the national flag….beat up the citizens of the Country that is the basis of your Economy…we shall soon see. Bravery or Stupidity. Certainly enough has been said…..there are Laws in this Universe.

  21. Great message, but it’s not just having the option to vote. It’s also having an uncompromised voting system, that is why we can’t have electric voting, otherwise voting is completely pointless
