关于台湾人的五件事

台湾人非常友好和有趣,但也有很多对我们外国人来说很奇怪的信仰或想法。这些奇怪的事情有五个。我不知道为什么要在这里写。

  1. Covering up on a 30 degree Celsius on a scooter ride ? Ha ! Not for me. ? and even on a hot weather, I walk from MRT station to home. Sorry but, I say most of the “girls” or “females” here are nitpicky and I hate that actually.

  2. When i first came to Taiwan I was in Taipei and i thought the fur-elise sound comming from the garbage trucks as some sort of ice-cream truck.

you can imagine my surprise when i went downstairs.

  3. I don't think I'm in superstition. But I have to share my own experiences, my ears really got cut three times after I was pointing the moon… I really don't know why but it's truely happened to me QQ

  4. I’m not superstitious
I not even sure what my religion is
    I don’t believe in ghost
    Don’t create stereotypes
    Im not hating
    Just saying
    Don’t be impetuous

Edit: I don’t have a weird name also

Edit 2: it is mostly polluted because China’s air blow over to Taiwan

  5. Yes, covering yourself from head to toe was very uncomfortable as a Taiwanese coming home to visit. The fear of sun is mostly for anesthetics as pale skin is considered beautiful (vs Westerner's view of tan skin as a symbol of beauty). Fear of rain is, as you said, for fear of acid rain, and of course that fear is sensationalized and exaggerated.

  7. Explains all the 7-11 stores. Wife's parents ran to Taiwan from the CCP when she was 2. So the Wife, her Ma and 3 sisters all thought rain, or getting wet, causes arthritis.

  8. My Taiwanese boyfriend would NEVER NEVER share a pear with me since pear in Chinese has the same pronounciation as being separate.

  9. LOL, agree with them all. Especially the walking part. My mother in law would get on the scooter just to go a shop 100 metres away!! Haha

  10. The garbage trucks in my Japanese suburb play songs really loud too. That same midi type sound but I have never noticed if it was classical music or not.

  11. English and Western names DO have meanings. Example, Sarah means 'princess'. Jason meals 'healer'. Matthew means 'gift of god'. James means 'supplanter; one who follows', etc. And surnames also have meanings.

  12. If I was a ghost in a hotel room, I'd be pretty pissed if some random stranger just knocked on the door and said, "I'm coming in now," and invited themselves in and [awkward enough] go flush the toilet. xD
