13. Ban on face mask law is useful when it comes to charging the arrested rioters. It is much easier for the prosecutors to prove their case in court. As long as you are caught with mask at these public order events, the sentence can be up to 1 year. It is a good deterrence for those backbenchers who are currently supporting the hardcore violent rioters.

    For this to be effective, the authority must proceed with enforcing the ban on face mask law by arresting a number and charging them in court to set as examples for the rest.

So most of us in Hong Kong support strict law enforcement by the police. On the contrary, we feel that the police's previous handling was too mild.
