  1. Yet you're using "Google's" product? Haha talk about being a hypocrite. How about you go to the subpar and crappy LBRY instead? That's like a vegan preaching to not eat meat but works in a meat factory.

  2. Yes, these data companies collect data about us, but it’s not ALL bad. Adam Conover addresses this in one of his episodes of Adam Ruins Everything.

  3. Do people realize that his voiceover wasn’t what the google ad actually said? Also, that dead people can’t come tell you who to vote for, unless they were just murdered by Alexa and you were instructed to vote before realizing they were dead? Do you also realize how stupid this video was? Who is using electronic devices that store your whole life, and is surprised the company who stores that information can read it? Take your tinfoil hat off, mom needs it to cover her pie, fool.

  4. I just watched the original ad (don't think we got this one in Australia). All the comments were "this made me cry", and "great job, Google". Oooooh dear…..

  5. The laziness of people never seems to surprise me. Just because people are to lazy to shut off a light they don't mind strangers watching them in their own house. If you got one of those hey google or hey Alexa you are an idiot!

  6. Both you, and Philosophy Tube put out videos about the same thing, on the same day, nice. Would highly recommend their video, because despite being longer it gets to the root of the problem better. It's just called 'Data.'
One interesting question I would have for you, though, is what happens when the big tech companies are broken up, and now we have another 500 ones just doing the same thing but more locally?
Or do you think that splintering one company would make overzealous data collection stop?
I work for Domino's, and we track you by Email and phone number. Can we break up fast food companies too?

  7. It was creepy enough with the AI talking to him and trying to sound like his dead wife. Then telling him to buy something. I feel dirty.

  8. I enjoy your videos where you just talk about a tech topic, but when you take the time to write out a script and create skits or media to make a point, I think you're at your most powerful. This is probably my favorite video of yours, other than the one about your grandma.

  9. What's the alternative?
Live completely void of technology? Hiding completely from everything and everyone? And only have a few lumps of wood in the fireplace as the sole source of energy?
If not. Where do we draw the line? What tech is okay? What has gone over the line? What is convenient? What's giving away too much?

Google has saved my precious memories once.
I lost a whole lot in a fire not long ago. Photos included. I was smart enough to have most digitalised and uploaded. If it wasn't for google photos, all that would've been permanently lost forever.

Is Google evil? Will they do bad stuff with the data they collected from me?
Google knows I'm surfing on various shop sites looking for spare parts. Google has companies that pay them to show ads that fit my interests.
After some casually surfing the web I see an ad that catches my interest. Am I a mindless slave now?
The ad shows me a store that have 25% off on spare parts I once was looking for. I was already about to buy that, but this deal seems even better. I take it.
Did Google make money on this? Yes!
Did I get a better deal than if I had blocked off everything? Yes!
Did the company responsible for the ad make a buck? Yes!
Was there anything evil about this? I dunno… you tell me.

  10. This Google ad makes me sick to my stomach. Google doesn't care about you or your loved ones, yours (and theirs) privacy, and they just brainwash people into digital slavery. While mind control you see in the movies might not be real, this is very real mind control. Support the FSF and other Open Source Software groups and lets strive to build a freedom respecting Google. This is totally possible if DuckDuckGo, Protonmail, and Purism partner up and work hard together. Lets not forget that we can build our own perosnal assistants with MycroftAI.
We need a FLOSS Superbowl Ad to show people the light!

  11. Holy s that's some great sound effects there, your sound imitation was genius too. Might be your most polished video yet

  12. I used to like Google and Facebook because they use Linux servers for all of their infrastructure. But when they turned into oppressive data collecting machines I boycotted at least one of them. I do still use YouTube, obviously, but I use it as a place to preach freedom in a strange shackle loving era.
