This is looks like a LOT of manual effort – when so much information (e.g. photos) could have been pulled from geotagged images in Google Photos itself to create starter points. If you had enabled collaboration abilities on a single project – then even extended families could have contributed to memories and stories. I suspect this will be abandoned in a year and killed in 2 years by Google with no way to transport all this effort and knowledge somewhere else. Look what Google Earth did with all the #Panoramio pictures.
