  1. Wait how is the animation in Toy Story 4 just icing? That’s all of the visual elements of a film. Everything you see in a film is not just icing.

  2. As much as it brings me down to learn that Joker is derivative of Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy, I still feel the film connected with me. I'm not one of those incel-types or creepy quiet people wishing to shoot up the place, my connection I felt was with Arthur Fleck's struggle with his psychosis and constantly being beaten down by the world around him for not fitting in. I myself suffer from some of his mental illnesses, such as his laughing condition, but I'm very self-conscious of who I am, and seeing the character of Arthur portrayed how he is with such conditions and dealing with how he's never able to truly get help gives me hope that the film brings light to how much of a struggle it is for the lives of people like myself if you remove the violent aspect of the film.

  3. Have you ever given a film a full 10/10?
You should do a quick video wherein you reevaluate all the films you've given this score and see if you still stand by your judgement.

  4. The music in 1917 was used inappropriately? I really have to disagree on that point. The music was one of the many things that I felt was very well-executed in the film because of the fact that it was very purposeful and didn't overwhelm the scenes like a lot of musical scores sometimes tend to do. I'm a bit of a soundtrack junkie so I tend to notice when the background music is either helping the movie or harming it. Most of the soundtrack in 1917 is very somber and quiet, fitting the atmosphere of most of the film, and it only flares up when the film actually demands it. It makes the dramatic, louder, scenes stick out far more than than they normally would have and that's the whole point. The almost extreme contrast between quiet and loud in the score feels like an intentional a tool to enhance the immersion for the audience. The quieter parts of the score embody the eerie unease of being surrounded by too much quiet in No Man's Land, not knowing if/when you're going to be attacked. The louder moments when the music swells embody the terror, panic, and urgency when the attacks do come, much of the time out of nowhere.

And that leads into my next point about the movie being a giant gimmick with an identity crisis. I also have to completely disagree with that idea because the movie knows exactly what it's trying to be – an immersive experience for the audience that uses the one shot illusion to make the viewers feel like they are following the main characters on their journey and experiencing everything with them rather than just watching it happen. You're meant to feel the reality of the trench war rather than simply see it from a distance. I respect that maybe that isn't everyone's cup of tea when it comes to movies, but that doesn't mean that the one shot format is just this pointless fancy technical thing that's only there to impress people. It has an actual purpose in the film. Yes, at its core it's a very standard war story but the way in which that story is told is what was meant to set it apart. I don't think doing an old story with new tricks is necessarily a bad thing if the tricks are done well and ultimately serve to drive the narrative. The single take is there to drive the narrative in a certain way. It's not just there to gain brownie points for looking cool.

  5. I respect your opinion, but a 6/10 for joker? I personally loved the score of the movie and it being Phoenix's movie was because he is the character whose perspective we see from. The way the film portrays a man slowly delving into madness (beside the fridge scene) was polarizing to say the least. I would have gave it a light 8 to a strong 7. And It keeps the tone fairly steady. Parasite was better though.

  6. I didn't see your issues with 1917 when i saw it but while i enjoyed it it wasn't memorable at all to me (unlike dunkirk as far as recent war movies goes)

  7. I'm so glad that Joker didn't win the Best Picture. Joker is very exaggerated and i'm surprised it got Best Picture nomination. It's a good movie but i feel like without Joaquin Phoenix, the movie is kinda meh. And i don't get why people were so mad because Parasite won the Best Picture. The movie was superior than Joker in every way. Just why ? It's not woke agenda that Parasite won. The movie won because it's the best film of 2019 and i'm very surprised that it won. The word "Woke" is meaningless at this point. It's overused, like the word "Literally" and it sucks, bro.
