  1. The fandom for Parasite are becoming a bunch of parasites. Makes me not want to watch the film.

    I don't go to the theater much. The only film I watched out of those 9 was Joker and I really enjoyed it, even though I don't care much for comic movies. My sister had free tickets and asked me to go see it with her and I'm glad I did. 🙂

  3. A great year for film! I genuinely liked all films for Best Picture. I also think Portrait Of A Lady On Fire should be nominated too.

    9. Little Women- Not my cup of tea
    8. Marriage Story- Great movie but to down for me to enjoy enough
    7. Parasite- good movie not the best movie ever
    6. Irishmen- Very good but too long
    5. 1917- Gorgeous cinematography but the rest of it dint floor me.
    4. JoJo Rabbit- Funny and poignant at the same time
    3. Ford V Ferrari- Great job by Damon and Bale I thought they both were great
    2. Joker- What a GREAT FILM
    1. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood- My 4th favorite movie of all-time So Its my winner!

Nice list, agree that Once Upon A Time gets better the more you think about it, I would put it at #4 although it is my personal favourite of the bunch. 3 I would put The Irishman, 2 I have the Joker and so far I think 1917 is the best film of the year. I haven’t seen any of the other ones yet. What do you think about Avengers Endgame not getting a nod after Black Panther got one last year?

    I have only seen joker, once upon a time, irishman and marriage story. Gonna try and see 1917 soon. I liked once upon a time, but the more i think about it i am falling in love with it! I am not a tarentino fan, to give you perspective.

  9. Great list I'm definitely going to try see all these movies but out of the movies I have seen there isn't much between parasite, joker and 1917. I really enjoyed OUATIH, ford Vs Ferrari as well but those 3 were outstanding films. I think out those 5 I'll rewatch OUATIH next though. I'm still practicing my run up for the Irishman unfortunately and the most annoying thing is the initial hype has died down and it's still getting mentioned as one of Scorsese's best. Really want to see marriage story as well.
    Bryan what in your opinion is the biggest mistake of the academy this year?

  10. I've still not seen Parasite, Little Women, or Marriage story, but my ranking would look like this:

    Jojo Rabbit – it just really spoke to me on a personal level
    Once Upon a Time in Hollywood – hugely entertaining, with two great characters at the center of it.

    The Irishman – well worth the wait, explored its themes expertly
    Joker – excellent character study
    1917 – very good, very emotional war movie
    Ford v Ferrari – it's very good, but didn't quite crack my top ten.

    Ranking in general has been very difficult for me this year. 2019 was absolutely on fire movie wise.
