  1. These nominations seemed very middle of the road to me. Nothing really bad was nominated, but there were a few noticeable snubs like Greta Gerwig for best director.

  2. the 3 stooges. Joker has 8.6 on imdb its a work of art incredible importand film with acting on another level. i have no idea how they could all 3 not notice that. There just has to be something behind this, and talking about the score of joker as not good LOL wtf is that all about its amazing score

  3. Film critics that still get butthurt because their personal favorite movies weren't nominated? You guys should know how things work by now… Nevertheless, I love almost all movies nominated, the ones that I don't are still pretty great. Grow up. Your attitude should match your age (looking at you Alonso).

  4. The joker Scorewas supposed to be oppressive woman !! If you dont know what that score is supposed to be then please dont open your mouth to talk and all this diversity talk is bullshit all you guys sitting in the studios and bitching and moaning about it actually does nothing but increase the disgust and add fuel to people who say that they think people should get in because they are a women or Person of color regardless of talent and stop bitching about it and no matter what you say about oscar are nothing but infact every other country with movie lovers esteem oscars and you guys are not oscar voters the thousands of voters liked these movies and they voted for these !! And btw it think it has now become a trend to diss joker to sound cool which trust me what made the movie a billion dollar movie if it is up to guys like you I think you would just give it people for the sake of diversity and completely put an end to nice artsy films !! Get a job where you know what you are doing!

  5. The Farewell got robbed, but otherwise I thought it was fine. Critics seem to universally hate the Oscars. But as a regular joe movie fan, I like them and think they are important. I will say the post-2000 Best Picture winners don’t not really hold up. Particularly 2010s.

  6. I think the Oscars matter when a movie or someone you care about gets nominated.
I liked OUATI Hollywood & Bombshell got nominated, but not super excited about it.
Let's see if Margot Robbie beats Kathy Bates for Best Supporting actress.

  7. All of the hate and defending of the Oscars in these comments is so laughable to me. Of all of the things in the world for you people to defend, and you pick the OSCARS!? The thing that has the universal consensus that nothing about it matters, it is just Hollywood celebrating itself, nominations/wins are bought, politics etc. ? learn how to pick your battles because you all look like fools defending something that doesn’t give two shits about you or anyone else. Real artists like Phoenix and others…couldn’t care less about awards! Any artist that feels destroyed by not getting the validation they need from a trophy…should change their line of work or seek therapy.

  8. Biggest snubs:

    The Farewell for Best Picture
Greta Gerwig (Little Women) and Pedro Almodovar (Pain & Glory) for Best Director
Florence Pugh (Midsommar) for Best Actress
Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit) for Best Supporting Actor
Bobby Krlic (Midsommar) for Best Score
    Midsommar for Best Costume Design
"Glasgow" from Wild Rose for Best Original Song

  9. The Joker made a mistake, now it's overrated. Next to Lighthouse and Parasite, this movie looks like Forrest Gump at the Oscars which won't age well once the comic movie craze dies down.
