  8. My sister really hate Jojo Rabbit because how it makes fun of the Holocaust events But for me Marraige Story, 1917, The Lighthouse, Ford v Ferrari, Parasite and The Irishman are the best movies this year for me.

  11. I understand changing the "Will Win" pick based on new data, but there seems to be a bit of bias being in play here when you change your "Should Win" pick. If you've seen all the movies, then you should have made up your mind already about who "Should Win."

  15. Parasite never showed in the uk so I hope it doesn’t win cause I couldn’t see it. Also think it shouldn’t have been nominated for the BAFTA for the same reason. And some theatre in London doesn’t count for the rest of the country. That would be like a film only showed in LA in several theatres winning I think an Oscar film should be something a significant portion of people could have the choice to see.

  19. Not sure if you know this, but two of the animated shorts (Hair Love and Kitbull) are free on YouTube if you still want to watch them.

  21. I hope 'PARASITE' wins "Best Picture" because it is a masterpiece with such an original story and those crowd pleasing surprises I never saw coming and just a showcase of the love of filmmaking. Go 'PARASITE'!

  26. I predict that 1917 will win Best Picture. Parasite is clearly the favorite, but without having won Best Picture at any other ceremonies, it's hard to see that happening.

  29. A sick year of movies imo. I really really liked Marriage Story, 1917, Joker, Ford v Ferrari, Parasite, Bombshell, Klaus, I Lost My Body, Pain and Glory, Irishman, Knives Out, American Factory and Kitbull.

    Only disliked Ad Astra, Two Popes, and The Lion King, Unfortunately, I can´t watch Jojo and Little Women before this year's academy awards.

  30. Why is not Jojo nominated for score? That "Jojo's theme" melody plays in my head all the time, and I find myself absentmindedly humming it a lot. And it very much enhanced the movie. I don't even remember the score of any of the nominees.

    I remember liking Joker's score when I saw the film, but don't remember the score itself. And Parasite and Knives Out have great scores, I play them on Spotify sometimes, but I don't find myself humming them. lol

  31. Jojo Rabbit has GOT to win costumes.
    SPOILER WARNING

    I mean, come on, the "robot" outfits, the uniforms made out of "paper" (oops, I mean "paper-like"), and Sam Rockwell's outfit? And even just the "period piece" outfits of ScarJo. How can that not win? 🙂

    Little Women is just a "period-piece". Like last year's "The Favourite". Movies should not win Best Costume just because they are period-pieces; we've seen thousands of period-piece movies throughout history. No, we need something new and fresh, creative and imaginative, and still works within the movie. Last year the period-piece The Favourite rightly lost to Black Panther, and this year Little Women goes down to Jojo Rabbit. 🙂

    Oh, and BTW, why the hell are none of Aladdin, Dolemite, or Rocketman nominated in this category? Joker doesn't deserve its nomination (one guy in a clown costume, and everyone else in normal clothes? Hell, may as well nominate It Chapter Two then. lol) . Take out Joker and replace it with any of three snubs I mentioned. 🙂

  36. Yes finally parasite getting recognition for production design. That house was literally built from the ground up to shoot the scenes. The neighborhood as well since they couldn’t get clearance to film properly so they built a neighborhood.

    I think is also a travesty that there are these voters who are literally saying they will not vote for a foreign language film. They should not be a part of a ceremony celebrating the best in film.

    I don’t understand the hype for 1917. Epic war movies have been done and made before. One take concept has already been used so it’s not that big of a deal as well. Also, I wonder if people are taking into account that 1917 is just a gimmick. Any other director could do what Sam mendes did with 1917, no other director could do what bong Joon ho did with parasite.

  39. Great video Austin. There is a new movie out on netflix called "A SUN" its a really good taiwanese foreign film that i think you should check out since you watched 37 seconds (whic was a great film)

  40. I feel like Parasite will have a clean sweep which would explain why it was only nominated for 6 Oscars. Sort of like when LOTR could have been nominated for more than 11 like cinematography.

  43. It's such a shame that The Irishman has lost so much traction since November. Martin Scorsese is a legend; DeNiro, Pacino, and Pesci are legends; Thelma Schoonmaker is a legend; and Steven Zallian is a legend. I struggling to understand how it's likely that it won't win any awards. It's a great movie with a very meditative script and tone with awe-inspiring acting. Scorsese deserves more Oscars.

  47. Since you’ve seen pain and glory now, do you think Banderas deserved his nomination? I personally think he was incredible but I still would give the edge to Adam Sandler

  50. I completely agree that Parasite should win, there was so much detail put into it, however my favorite movie of 2019 is 1917, I'm very excited to see how the Oscars will turn out
