Some people are saying Joker, and while they're very much entitled to their opinion, but I don't think it's going to be it, other than of course Phoenix's performance you only really see it get praised for its technical achievements (cinematography, score, production design) the script hasn't been as praised as movies like Irishman or Marriage Story often in fact criticized and even I as someone who loved the film thought the script was solid but nothing to write home about. Same thing goes for Philips who I thought did a phenomenal job with the film but rarely does anyone talk about his work unless it's a quick "Yeah he did good" before moving on.

Parasite is not a masterpiece jees. It's just a rare Asian movie worth watching, still schetchy emotional and non logical behavior, almost cartoonish.

Golden Globes will give it to Joker, but I dont think that will sway the Academy AT ALL. In fact, I think it'll make them not vote for Joker since it already won a Golden Globe.
I think… since Kramer vs Kramer already has been done, the Academy wont vote for Marriage Story. As for Parasite, I dont the Academy will want to give it both Best Foreign Film and Best Picture. I'd say best picture goes for The Irishman or Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

I really hope Joker wins Best Drama, but I have a feeling it'll be Irishman. I love most Scorsese movies but that one just didn't do it for me.
Dolemite and Rocket Man are better than Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed Tarantino's latest film as I enjoy almost all of his movies, but Rocket Man was phenomenal. Oh, and Knives out was really good. Haven't seen Jo Jo Rabbit, yet.
If Bong Joon Ho wins here, there will be momentum for Parasite towards Best Picture Oscar.

didnt see any of them but will still apply the judgement, being 1. something is wrong with marc and the video had to be stopped almost immediately. 2. probably will praise scorsese and give the best picture to once upon a time 3. if number 2 is incorrect then that will be irrelevant, much as most of hollywood is currently, wishing to redefine all the classics.
