Why haven't you been releasing videos lately? You're actually one of my favorite film commentary channels on YouTube and was looking forward to your Oscar recap. Though if you're just too busy with college stuff now then I completely understand.
Disappointed you didn't do the Oscars live tonight. Is it because of nasty comments for last live stream?? I know you are young. You will learn not to let those kind of things deter you.
I'm doing all 24 categories here we go Picture 1917 Director Sam Mendes Best Actor Joaquin Phoenix Best Actress Renee Zellweger Supporting Actress Laura Dern Supporting Actor Brad Pitt Original Screenplay Parasite Adapted Screenplay Jojo Rabbit Cinematography 1917 Film Editing Ford V Ferrari Costume Design Little Women Production Design Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Makeup and Hairstyling Bombshell Score Joker Song Rocketman Sound Editing/Mixing 1917 Visual Effects 1917 Animated Feature Klaus Documentary Feature American Factory International Feature Parasite Animated Short Hair Love Documentary Short Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone Live Action Short The Neighbors Window
I love your videos and will fight the assholes for you!
does anyone else think there could be a possible upset for lead actress for either Charlize Theron or Scarlett Johansson to possibly win? even though Renée has won every single award and is the predicted winner???
Agreed. I like some drama with my drama awards. That said, I think there will be some_ JoJo and Parasite are going to over-deliver.
I feel like we're in a for a night of massive surprises in light of lack of diversity. Not that the surprise winners wouldn't be deserving. If anyone's interested, check out my predictions on my channel.
I don't understand the hate about STAR WARS. Abrams had a hell of a mess to clean up from the previous one which we know all about and kudos should go to him. But to hate on John Williams? The man has scored ALL the STAR WARS films working in all the old themes and variations of the music he used the way movie composers do. He has composed 266 film scores in his career. (He's no closer to beating out Max Steiner's 397 ) but has been nominated only 41 times and won 5 Oscars as compared to Steiner's 18 nominations and 3 Oscars and everyone groans when they hear William's name mention as a nomination. If Hilder Guonadottir wins for "Joker," she will be the first woman to win in that category. She could win considering the masterful work she did for the HBO 5 episode series "Chernobyl." If she does win then expect within the next decade Williams will get a Life Achievement Award.
What if, the academy said "fuck it", and we had a two popes and joker sweep
I would love to see Parasite win Original Screenplay…great film! However, I believe this award will go to Tarantino as a consolation prize for not winning Picture and Director.
2:58 More like “And he lives Onward” see what I did there ?
Don’t listen to the hate, amigo. I dig your honesty! I think “1917” has got this one in the bag for BP.
Parasite! Parasite! Parasite! I dig ur videos, i always watch ur vids around awards time.
You forgot to mention that Hollywood didn’t get nominated for editing. True 1917 didn’t either but that’s because it is a one take film. That is the only time in the last 35 years a film has managed to win picture without editing. I think 1917 is probably going to win picture and Sam Mendez will definitely win director. But there is just a slim chance that Parasite could win picture. That lies with editing and screenplay. If Parasite wins both it might be enough for picture.
Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix…
Its all point to Pitt, Phoenix, Zellweger and Dern for actor/actress category. Mendes is locked for best direction if he win BAFTA. But i am hoping for upset in Best Picture. Joker hopefully wins Best Picture and couple more oscars wins f.e. Hildur for Joker score.

Greta lost her best director nom cause Bong-Joon-Ho took her place not Todd Philips. Joker got 11 nominations and of course the director of the movie is getting nomination for best direction.
hey where did you buy all those posters?
This was really great. I am a Oscar fanatic too have a great day
I feel like I'm the only one that wants The Irishman to win BP. Anyone? Scorsese's love letter to the mobster genre is honestly so gratifying to see
OMW. I literally couldn't agree with you more. The actors and movies that ARE going to win are great but would it be too much to ask for a surprise or some sort of revelation that makes us believe that an artist can win without following the perfect boxed 5-step-guide-to-winning-an-Oscar!
Predicting Joker pulling off an upset in the adapted screenplay, they obviously loved Joker, because of its lead with nominations, little women is a remake.
You can rest easy. "1917" will get Best Picture. Hollywood loves war movies since D.W. Griffiths "The Birth of a Nation" and "1917" will be the only 2nd World War 1 movie of high caliber since "All Quiet on the Western Front" in 1930. If "Parasite" gets Best Picture, which I think it won't, it will set a precedent because no foreign film has ever won Best Foreign Film…uh, excuse me… Best International Film won Best Picture in 91 years ( but I think you knew that already!). I will be watching you on Oscar night. Best of luck to you.
"1917" is a white knuckler, edge-of-you-seat film thanks to Sam Mendes. Roger Deakins was GREAT but what Jarin Blaschke did for "The Lighthouse" filming it in aspect ratio 1:19 using what is called Pillar Box instead of Letterbox to heighten the claustrophobia within the lighthouse was creative genius. But will Bong Joon-Ho recreate what Cuaron did for "Roma?" I wouldn't be surprised.
Hands down Greta Gerwig will get the Adapted Screenplay not just because she's a woman but this was a finely crafted screenplay on a classic novel that outdoes the classic versions made of this film going as far back as 1918, 1933 and 1949. You're right that Tarantino will probably get Best Original Screeplay because he's good at telling a story but, IMO, he isn't so good getting that story onto film. I really hated OUAT…IH, giving it a 2 out of 5 star review, because only people who actually heard of the infamous Hollywood incident, (Manson, Sharon Tate and Helter Skelter and people like myself who are over 40 ) would know what this film is about which is towards the last 40mins of nearly 3 hours! Let's face it, Tarantino fans go to see a Tarantino movie ONLY because of the actors. I'm going for the dark horse on this one…"Knives Out."
Do u think ford v Ferrari and jojo rabbit will win any awards?
You're right on all the acting categories, although I wouldn't be a bit surprised Florence Pugh will sneak in and get the gold. She has a lot of support. Renee Zellweger I think should get it for Judy because, after all, she WAS Judy but Scarlett Johansson could beat her. Brad Pitt is a shoe-in after losing years ago the Oscar for "12 Monkeys." Not worried about him in this category. However, in actor – as much as I hated "Joker" because it was such a depressing movie, Joaquin went WAY over the top in this performance damn near to the point of overacting. My bet is on Jonathan Pryce for "The Two Popes" because he got snubbed for "The Wife." Even though that film was all Glenn Close, her character wouldn't have existed if it weren't for Pryce. However, if Scarlett gets Best Actress look for Adam Driver to get Best Actor. Hollywood likes Adam because he has proven he can do more than just Kylo Ren. I was not surprised by Jennifer Lopez being snubbed. IMO she's a mediocre actress.
If I want one award for Parasite I really want it to be Director for Bong Joon-ho. Since it's not likely to happen, I hope he wins Screenplay and then there could be bigger chances for the Best Picture win
