  3. Two of my favorite actors not nominated for Oscars are Ray Romano in The Irishman and Ray Liotta in Marriage Story. I think those characters enhanced the level of enjoyment I had in watching the movie. They are both named Ray and they both played Lawyers. I also enjoyed Harriet. This is the kind of movie kids can learn about history like Roots.

  6. I just saw "1917" and it is going to win best picture. Sorry guys. Much better movie than "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." THey may throw Tarantino the director bone.

  10. I think when a film like Joker expresses the societal issue with great art and impact that makes it less depressing a film, because it's honoring and giving voice the Joker spoke of. As Joaquin said in his Critics choice speech.

  14. The reason Hollywood could win is because the film is about them, and Tarantino makes actors films, and actors are the biggest group in the Academy.

  15. Stop saying that Frozen 2 did not get a nomination because it had two female leads because that's not at all the reason why it didn't get nominated.

  16. I totally agree with Keith Simanton about Phoenix's performance in "Joker". Yeah he is a unique guy too hahahaha.

  18. O'Neil keeps using the Jessica Lange example of a double nominee who won in Supporting.  Lange won the Globe, NYFCC, NSFC among other awards.  The last 2 double nominees – Cate Blanchett and Julianne Moore did not win.

  19. Editing snubs for both 1917 and Hollywood casts some doubt on their BP chances imo. I mean Birdman did it but before that it was Ordinary People in 1980!

    Perhaps our Best Picture lies with Joker, JoJo, FvF, Parasite, or Irishman. No foreign film has won BP so I'm cancelling Parasite out. FvF will most likely win Editing but that does not translate to a BP (Hacksaw Ridge, Whiplash, Dunkirk).

    Joker is leading Oscar nominations but the films divisive quality may hurt it's chances, but maybe the leading nominations means the Academy loves it.

  24. Marriage Story is tedious? That's funny, I remained transfixed to it throughout. Honestly, as much as I usually love Laura Dern, she was the closest thing to a weak spot I could find in it. Not actually weak, but less entrancing/clever. Overall, Marriage story is probably my 3rd favorite film of the year. This dude apparently missed the wonderful humor in it.

  27. 1917 could definitely win. It's out right now in theaters, during the voting period, and everyone is raving about it. It's a masterpiece. Parasite is number 3.

  30. The description is missing the film JoJo Rabbit and wrote The Irishman as “The Freshman” for some reason lol
