  3. The Irishman is in the bottom half (being charitable) of Scorcese films and that has to catch up with it eventually. That may come after awards or before.

    Either way, the critical glow of nostalgic fan service will not age well. Scorcese skipped theme-park ride and went straight for wax museum.

    Pacino tried. The screenplay had some merit. Technically it was okay. Meh.

  4. awarding scorsese for Irishman would be like awarding him for The Departed.
    he deserved all the accolades for The Wolf of Wall Street & The Aviator instead.

  6. I love Judy Garland, I love the wizard of oz. I just have no idea why Renee is getting all this praise and accolades. Her performance was borderline offensive and just ridiculous. Judy Davis was gave a far superior performance in a TV movie

  11. I think Susan hit it on the head when she said that the Globes like their "moments" when it comes to picking winners. This works in favor for some of my picks winning Jennifer Lopez, Brad Pitt & Eddie Murphy. They also like their "upsets/surprise" winners as well & under that category I'm picking Joker to upset for Best Drama. They also have the narrative of picking winners who are overdue that's why I'm picking Scarlett Johansson & the narrative of the hot up & comer that's why I'm picking Ana de Armas. Best Song is another "moment" award for me & I think they'll either go with Elton John or Beyonce winning, my money is on Elton John. My other winners include Once Upon A Time In Hollywood for Comedy/Musical, Bong Joon Ho for Director (after all it's the Hollywood FOREIGN press), Marriage Story for Screenplay because of the Noah Baumbach directing omission (also a win sort of for Greta Gerwig since she wasn't nominated at all), Joaquin Phoenix for Drama Actor because of the Directing nomination & Drama Movie win, Parasite for Foreign Language, 1917 for Score because they'll want to give it an award for something & Toy Story 4 for Animated movie. I'm predicting The Irishman gets shut out completely.

  12. They really glossed over best supporting actor. The Oscars have been snubbing Tom Hanks since Cast Away. Overlooking him for Captain Phillips was unforgiveable. If they would snub him foe that then I think they're done with him. Pitt may win the Globe but I think his biggest competition is Pacino and/or Pesci, whom they didn't even mention during this chat. If either Pacino or Pesci wins Sunday I think it'll be because of the outcry of De Niro being snubbed and it'll look better if The Irishman wins Best Picture Drama to have an acting award.

  15. Pitt was Pitt in "hollywood". Good if not great performance, of course, but i really don't know why he's seen as the frontrunner here. He played his usual too cool for this world type of guy. He's great at it, but I've seen that many times before. I doubt he's gonna win the oscar. Pacino or Pesci are far more likely (and gave showier performances in my opinion)

    Scarlett Johansson and Awkwafina in their respective Best Actress categories

    Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lopez in their respective Best Supporting categories

    Bong Joon Ho for Best Director and Parasite winning Best Foreign Film

    Noah Baumbach winning Best Screenplay (Marriage Story)

    Rocketman winning in the Best Original Song category

    Toy Story 4 in Best Animated Film

    1917 winning Best Original Score (I'm not sure if this is a Golden Globes category)

    Some of these are very much Globe picks and not necessarily who I think will win the Oscar ultimately.

  28. It's always good to see Tom O'Neil in these videos. I like Susan and Joyce too. Anyway, supporting The Irishman for picture, Renée for actress, Joaquin for actor. Johansson screaming and crying is not better than Renée's Judy.

  29. “The Irishman” sucked!!! “Joker”was amazing!!! ❤️? I saw “Joker” five times yet it was very hard for me to watch “The Irishman” once! I never looked at my clock so much in my life! I couldn’t wait for it to be over!!! It was sooooo boring!!! ?

  30. How ironic would it be if a "comic-book" movie partially inspired by, formally produced by Scorsese beat Scorsese's Irishman?
