13. In the big picture, probably would have been a good thing If mexico joined. Once America defeated Mexico, it more than likely would have developed stable govt and better ran the country better than mexico has been for the last century. Or better yet, mexico become part of America.

18. Even if Mexico had a good well trained armed forces it would have had been impossible to win. United States is the Soviet Union/China of the western hemisphere, even if Mexico could win 5 battles in a row United States would end up winning. Simply, United States population is bigger, Mexico couldn't win in 1846, 1917, 2020, nor in 2200.

21. As a Mexican I'm glad the Zimmerman telegram existed, it puts the name of my country in universal history textbooks

23. At the end of Mexican American War the US had total control of all Mexico for approx 6 months. The US was having a hard time finding a Mexican government to sign the treaty to surrender half of Mexico basically because the government in power at the time dissolved. The US even brought back the old General Santa Ana that was exiled to Cuba. When he was brought back he tried to fight again and kicked out of power again.
    Well the politicians in Washington said screw it let's just take all Mexico since they were running the country anyways. Well the US diplomati that was there to get the treaty signed heard wind of this and cobbled a government together by warning the Méxican people with power either sign the treaty or lose everything. They signed and the American diplomati was treated very badly after going back to Washington DC and never worked again in the government. He knew once the treaty was signed that Washington would not go back on the treaty.
    The delegation that was sent from Washington was one week out from Veracruz which was diplomats headquarters.
