  1. The last living lion from a different era when men were men driving a 4500 lb long wheelbase car, no power steering, tires that blew up easy, no cool suit and hat and big block engines with open exhaust that make your blood boil fighting that beast for 500 miles and pitting at 150 mph with shitty brakes. The word safety was unheard of winning was everything making a living in the last of the Roman arenas, compare that with todays kids???Not one of them would have made the grade NASCAR today means National Association of Spoiled Children Auto Racing that is why the fans are all gone..

  2. After the King Departs, that long historic chapter is turned forever.
You got Cale ok. Few other's but this man, is a true southern gentleman.
And, will forever be truly missed.

  3. I was unfortunate enough to be born in an era where "The King" had had his reign, and the new fellas were making their own shadow. But what always struck me, was how sometimes I couldn't honestly tell what the man loved more, the racing, or the fans.

I'm sure that the racing won out, but I have no doubt in my mind the fans were right on his front quarter panel giving the race a run for its money.

I sure wish more of the 60-70s races where here on Youtube in full. I'd love to see "The King" in his prime, and Dale and DW being younger than I am now. Back when DW was considered a dark horse!?

    DW? The "bad guy"?!???

  4. Back in the 70s? Hell, that was Dale's M.O. until the day he passed. If he couldn't beat 'em, he'd wreck 'em. I never could tell if I was watching a car race or a county fair bumper car mashup.

  5. I'am a year younger than Jr when I was 5 I went to pickup my brothers from school with my mom and I remember them being extremely excited & they kept saying I can't believe we're going to meet Richard & Kyle Petty… it was 1980 in Slidell Louisiana at a Howard's department store ,Richard & Kyle were setup in the automotive "STP" section in the corner of the store, We were the only people there to see them ,I remember Richard picked me up & put me on his lap then passed me off to Kyle .I remember Kyle saying "I have a little boy about your age" I would absaluty love to have a picture of my 6 y.o. son with Richard & Kyle.

  6. I still cry at times..I love my daddy and he's always tried his best to help me succeed, Dale Earnhardt senior died doing the same for his son. Dale Earnhardt could've won that day ..but he was guarding his two buddies…..including his good hearted son. I really hope I get to meet Dale Jr soon. I need to express my understanding in what happened that day Dale wrecked and passed into the next world. Daddies will risk their lives for their kids at all cost. It just makes me tear up knowing what Dale senior did that day for his son. It was tragic but yet as a parents veiw a beautiful thing to see a daddy protect his son. My father in heaven Yah guides us to him. Just hear his voice.

  7. My first NASCAR race was the last race they were talking about, the very first televised Daytona 500 in 1979, I was in 4th grade and Richard Petty was my Dads favorite racer, and of course, Richard Petty was mine too. It took many, many, many years before I realized how awesome that race was and how its one of the most spectacular , most talked about races of all time, and it was Dale Earnhardt's rookie season. Too bad that in 1992 I had moved to Des Moines, Iowa and had all of my pictures from that 1979 race in my glovebox and someone broke into my car and stole a lot of stuff, AND the envelope with the pictures of the 1979 Daytona 500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wtf

  8. I wasn't raised on Nascar but Dale is what got me interested his damn the torpedo's style I flat loved , hardly missed watching a race to the end. Sure miss that son of a gun, he made Nascar in my opinion

  9. I came within feet of shaking Mr. Petty’s hand but missed out. It’s one of those regrets that I have lived with ever since.
He’s One of my real life hero’s that has my total respect. Dale & Dale Jr are right up there as well. To sit and talk with the man would be a true blessing.
Someday, Maybe I’ll get another chance… “I don’t get in a car… I put it on. It becomes a part of me. It’s what makes me able to do things others can only dream of.” Marriage killed my racing career.

  10. typical petty. always playing the role of mr innocent. ask ole bobby about him. you never ever hear petty say he was wrong. makes me so sick at my stomach

  11. I remember as a kid all I ever wanted was to meet Richard petty, well I finally did was the worst experience ever I said hey to him an he ignored me here I am 6 years old dream was shattered was a heartbreaker I still pulled for him ……. but ain’t like nascar they same since

  12. I was a kid growing up in Germany,my first taste of NASCAR was in 1975 watching AFN American forces network beaming in NASCAR and immediately picked Richard as my guy and of course i became a Mopar freak, I know Mopars were pretty much done but AFN showed a lot of Vintage races to fill in TV time and Mopars were my love from Age 13 on

  13. Here's another IDEA IVE HAD ,, so we all know how Nascar switches networks in the middle of the season ,,,sheesh how i hate that ,,,, but any how's , How about letting the fans vote in the main Nascar announcers for the year! AND last BIG GAME changer for the best into the future is give the officiating back to the officials on track ,,, no more blocking ,,, spinning cars out just cause you cant race by them ….. very positive for Nascar , Bring back racing instead of demo derby's ! I hear to often drivers who have gained from bone head moves voice there opinions to much verses the drive who dont block or spin others out intentionally! ,, its better for sponsors , just better over all , fill the stands again!

  14. awesome Dale , i know its hard to talk about your dad , but trust me ,, im 60 and water flows from my eyes when you guys talk the past ,,, the 70's were awesome , the 90's was the best ,, nascar needs to give the officiating back to the officials ,, in the 70s you would get black flagged if you turned some one or cut someone off , all this blocking and turning some from behind instead of racing around them, well we all in the stands no this ,, were tired of seeing awesome racing then someone spins out someone or throws a block , things that you would of gotten a black flag for ,,,,,,,, i believe Sr. would be with us if these rules were inforced at the same time stands will fill ,, we want racing not demo derby's!

Was One of First Racers To Be SO Autograph Friendly,As Has Been Mentioned ,Will Sit & Talk To Anyone About Racing,Whether He Knows U Or Not !!!
