  3. You don't need the cable company's router with Google Wifi. I have FIOS and plug the cable directly from the ONT right into my Google WiFi. Works great, less equipment in the rack, and no issues with that old technology

  6. LCD TV's glass is broken. Not worth it to replace the screen. But!! it would make a great light. Super bright. Is this possible? Pull the main board and leave the power. Thank you. Watching your channel for years.

  9. You can buy WiFi extenders/access point and it does the same job. A lot of the newer extenders are dual band. Higher the AC number, the better. Highest AC you can currently get in modem router is AC5300. And in the WiFi extenders/access point the fastest currently is AC4400.

    The position of these, in the home, is important. Don't block it. Don't have them on the floor. Keep in mind of REIN, which is any outside influences, that could interrupt your WiFi, such as Christmas Tree lights, Road works, non-WiFi friendly phones, masonary bricks/blocks home with Steel rods in them.. etc could disrupt/interfere with your Wi-Fi. Never place your modem router close to your cordless phone base. If you're running ADSL/DSL, and you have 2 or more home phone connections inside the house, make sure you're connected to the main incoming one… It can make a huge difference in speeds.

    Also, see if there's any noise on the phone line, by using a phone and listening if there's any hisses, pops etc.. that is a real concern and call your telephone line provider and get it sorted.

    My cousin has wireless NBN @90MHz. Her service/provider is up to speed of 50mbps. My cousin's Modem Router is located in the main house, at the top floor, on a high shelf, and to send/recieve data to the granny flat outside, I got them to buy a WiFi extender Netgear AC1700. Both the main house and the Granny Flat are covered in lots of galvanized steel and colourbond roofing, and yet still receive very impressive speeds. The distance is about 50 to 70 metres. Paid $79 on Australian EBay, secondhand/used. Works great!

    Always look for answers and better options out there. I know the answers, because I'm a Network Engineer. I setup my cousin's December 2017. All good ?

Google wifi is only wifi AC dualband router with some mesh features, but for u it is totally overpriced, because it is just a dualband ac router. u will have even better reults if u throw your router to bin and buy some asus 150mbit router wirh long antenas. 2,4GHz is way better for houses because 5GHz is faster only with no obstacles. higher frequency=worse signal behind obstacles. so for houses is better just 2,4ghz wifi. google wifi dont have big antenas so it have lower signal strenght than router with long antenas

  11. Hey you need a new router for sure. You pay every month for it get a new one. Also as you say the higher up the router the better the range. This was informative for sure. I have a lot of devices on the router 18 so how does the google perform ??

  12. Put your old modem where google is. And test speed again. When my is under desk it is slow ~15 Mbps behind one wall. When I put in on desk I got 80Mbps

  15. Can't you get your own modem and router. I had great wifi signal but bad download so I call the company and they found some bad connector outside on the pole. Now I have great download speed 280 mbps

  17. I haven't investigated Google Wi-Fi but I did notice that your router / Wi-Fi Gateway is sitting in the floor. This would be the reason that you're having poor reception.

    Do you have other wireless access point setup in your house?

    And congratulations You're officially being spied on with even better efficiency.

  20. BAD 'Service' either way! Cell or DSL Wifi. Thanks anyway. =] Dealing w online help for house fon – is a joke! Need to call – Hold breath.
    Cell phone Co. sent me some bigish' box – Must plug in power & House Fon. – Yeah House Fon. Metal Roof may stop Cell Fon 'service'. NAH!
    Besides, suggesting New Fon MAY be needed. ha ha ha ha (got one) =( SAME 'Service'! Not so good for EITHER! NEVER Used, Must return.
