1. I don't get why allot of you guys expect U.S. companies to focus more than 10% of their funding on projects like this. I mean how many Chinese film studio's have made it a priority to show American culture in a lead role respectfully?(fwi I'm all for representative of everyone's culture done correctly and this film looks very genuine)

14. My grandmother died of liver cancer she was 98 she lived a good life. When we found out she has cancer we brought her to the hospital and she said she doesn't want to be treated anymore. Doctors said she has 6 months left. Turned out it was 3 years 🙂 rest in peace Lola.

29. This is currently free on Amazon Prime. If you have prime, I highly recommend this film. It's beautiful and emotional.

31. Now this a movie that should of won at the Oscars. The emotions in this movie are beautiful and true. The Farewell is so much better then Parasite. I did not like the Parasite movie or thought the Parasite movie is good at all.

One thing to know going into this film is that it's not only moving, it's deeply thought provoking, resulting in a story about different cultures that is much less superficial than most films of its ilk. It really is a gem. I'd also hazard that it's a must-see for anybody planning on working in the medical field someday.

35. In the movie, when Billi arrives at the airport, many cab drivers rushed to her, I just wanna say in China this is no longer the case. Everyone uses a smartphone app to call for cabs or jumps into the cabs queuing as a line in the airport.

This reminds me of what also happened to my family it’s a story before 4 years ago my grandfather suddenly got sick and was taken to hospital and as the place I was living had no big hospital so he was taken to the capital city there we find out that he had cancer as my mother and aunt went to the the capital the day they returned I saw a different pain in their eyes we also chose to not tell him the truth because he would be hopeless and sad which we didn’t wanted to see I remember how difficult it was for me my mother and my aunts we used to smile in front of him but cry so badly when he was not there after struggling for 2 years he passed away R.I.P to my grandfather I can’t explain the pain and sorrow of those times
    We miss you ❤️

44. This was a little masterpiece.

45. I saw this film on a whim not knowing anything about it — and it was one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen. I could relate, although I'm not Chinese (I'm Ethiopian) — there are many cultural norms in which not telling an elder their illness is beneficial. But it was such a heartfelt story about family, and what love can really be or mean.

46. This movie is a breath of fresh air. I'm not Chinese but I'm happy to get a glimpse into a culture so different from mine yet the same.
