There was a Twilight Zone (New one) episode called The Comedian in which Kumail Nanjiani plays this struggling standup comedian who discovers thats if he writes jokes about people from his personal life his comedy will be hit but those people will die one by one. And in order to be successful he keeps killing people one by one by making jokes about them. This seems a direct lift from that central idea.
