  3. Good afternoon Troy, I am having a problem with my Firestick.
    About a week ago, I installed an Amazon otg cable and a 32gb thumb drive.
    I downloaded about 15 apps to the thumb drive.
    When I checked in the "Settings", "Applications", "Manage Installed Applications" I saw that the apps did download to the thumb drive as the thumb drive insignia was to the right of the installed apps.
    I then proceeded to hook up the Firestick to the Ethernet by using a TP-Link 600.
    I checked in the "Settings", "Network" and saw that I was Wired, as opposed to being on my Wi-Fi network.
    I then went to the "Applications" menu and then "Manage Installed Applications" and saw that the apps I downloaded were no longer on the thumb drive as the thumb drive insignias we're all gone, along with most of my available memory on the Firestick.
    I then was told that I can't use the Amazon Ethernet Adapter in conjunction with the thumb drive so I disconnected it and sent it back to Amazon.
    Since then, I have had to "Reset to Factory Defaults 5 times and I still can get anything to work properly.
    The Firestick will work without the thumb drive and the Ethernet but my internal memory is almost gone.
    When I now try to install a thumb drive, I can't get the proper messages when I type in my IP address, then the 5555 and try to connect.
    I do get the first line with the "mantis:$" but when I try to get the middle line, (I forgot what it spells out) but it has : a number and a comma and the word partition I think.
    I hope I explained this properly.
    I am not very tech savvy but I can follow instructions and directions.
    Please help if you can Troy, I'm at my wit's end.

TROYPOINT I got a question for you, I upgraded my fire box ethernet cable from the basic cat 5 cable, to the cat8 cable, and I have been watching lag/buffering free 1080p movies, don't know where I got the info, but do you think the upgrade makes a difference?I was getting frustrated with the amazon box, the basic firestick did a better job streaming withan ethernet adapter, but now im ok with the box..

    I have been a loyal subscriber for many years. I am not to good at this. Like others have said , thank you so very much for the help. That said, I have a question please. I have a 2014 0r 15 fire tv. It buffers badly at times.. mostly at night when every one in watching there tv. I was thinking about upgrading to the Nvidia Pro, for faster speeds and to start gaming a little bit. I DO NOT see any tutorials to set that up like I see tutorials for the Fire Stick/ TV devices. HELP!!!!!! As for the buffering, I have spent the last week, going through your videos and help. On my tv, your speed test shows 10mbps. That is the limit of my rural internet. It shows that speed even when shows are buffering on Area 51… so I do not think it is my bandwidth. Area51 help said, my ISP is throttling… but like I said the TROYPOINT.com/st link shows 9 to 10 mbps D/L speed. Ideas? Area51 told me to get the Nvidia… that fire tv/sticks are troublesome for them. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I have tried everything to stop my 4k firestick to stop buffering. My wireless nbn isn't great here, but even when I get 16kps, I still can only run very low quality streams without buffering. Can you or anyone help please.

  13. Troy … Very helpful . .. I used your tip and added an sd card 32 split 50 50. I can remove some apps and then reinstall so the apps will reside on the sd card. Are there apps I should leave on internal storage for speed considerations? One is PIA … And if I wanted to install an app on internal storage how do I do that? Thanks

  14. Great vid mate. I just recently at long last upgraded from the last generation stick to the 4k one. I didn't think it was going to be worth while but the speed difference etc is easy to see.

  17. Hi troypoint I just saw a YouTube video on speeding up fire stick and keeping it from buffering and one of the things was to turn off your VPN they were actually saying that you don't need it on your fire stick what are your insights thoughts of this?

  20. Hey Troy, I'm glad your new channels is growing so fast. I'm not surprised.
    I installed SD Maid, but the icon is the same generic one that I get on a lot of other apps that I side load on my Fire Cube… (it's a dark gray box containing a light gray graph with a diagonal line through it). It makes it hard to tell one app from another. Do you have instructions (or an app) so I can change the icon on apps? If not, no biggie; I can live with it. Thanks for all your help!

  23. Thanks for the update. Just to let you know the notification 'bell' icon is turned off for this video. According to the Youtube Learn more site this is "To comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), certain features may be restricted or turned off on content that’s set as made for kids"

  30. You are brilliant. I use SDmaid which I got from you and did mess up one time LOL. Got a little too happy with the delete bin. Enjoyed your tutorial on it. You appear to be really into Firestick rather than TV box. I am curious why.

  35. I have the old Amazon early generation "box" which has an SD slot. I found I can move some apps to the SD card. That should help? Also can you download movies to the SD card specifically?
