  1. Thanks Serge!! Blade shortcut is ?. I was using B to blade then A to select. This is a real time saver for me. Regarding optimized media I stoped converting when I started using Canon 80D. Really good editable codec on 80D. I am using iMac 2011 with upgraded ram 16gb. Other shortcuts I use is alt+F for freeze frame, cmd+shift+V for paste effects and cmd+7 for vectorscope.

  2. One other quick question Serge. I recently finished a project and accidentally deleted the cache files. Now most stuff on my timeline is red but still playing like normal. Did this ever happen to you? The cache files will rebuild themselves? Thank a lot.

  3. Hi Serge. Why would you select both optimized and proxy for some or your footage? So you can switch between the two of them if you want? Are you creating lots of files if you select both?

  4. Thanks Serge – I need to do more of the Effects Presets. Those do in fact save a lot of time – as you stated. I'm still going to get that behind the scenes video done if you're still interested in a collab my friend!? Also, the colour and lighting in your video are stellar. Take care my friend. All the best, Cheers Rick

  5. Mr. Serge!
Brother, you are the best on YouTube when giving Final Cut Pro instructions and making all of here, the very lucky ones in this world who actually know your channel and have been following you since the beginning:)
Thank you so much brother for the amazing hard work you do every single day.

  6. I love using shortcuts and discovered that instead of trying to remember them all at once I’d pick one new shortcut per video I edit and use it. After a couple of weeks I found that editing went a lot quicker.

I do have one problem that I’ve been trying to figure out for awhile now and I’m not sure if it’s my camera, MacBook or FCPX. I use my MacBook as my monitor when I record my videos and my Camera is a Canon EOS Rebel SL1. If I have the power cord plugged into any electrical outlet while I’m recording, I get horrible crackling and hissing in my audio and I can’t seem to edit that out of my videos. I’ve tried 4 different mic’s and 3 different AUX cables and that hasn’t helped at all. Has anyone else run into this before and if so, were they able to fix it? I’ve tried Apple support and they’re clueless. I hate having to stop recording just so I can charge my MacBook and I get mad at myself when I forget to unplug it.

Thanks to anyone who can help me!

  7. Great video, man. Just to clarify, when I ONLY import as Proxy and complete the edit, will I have the ability to change it to Optimized for the final export? Or do I have to import in both Proxy AND Optimized from the very beginning?

  8. Serge maybe I missed a step in the zoom affect but when I follow these step what happens is my top layer starts small the then it stretches and just expands over my bottom layer can you let me now what I maybe doing wrong. I really like that trick and would like to master it . if you have either Insta Gram or facebook message me at Hardaway Production
    Thanks Serge

  9. Very useful, Serge. Thank you.
There are three things I do not understand about your last topic.
i.The benefit of using Proxy media are clear. When would I want to edit in optimized media? What would I gain by doing so?
ii. What is the relationship, if any, between Optimized/Proxy media options in the viewer and the Better Quality/Better Performance settings?
iii. If I edit using Proxy media, do I need to allow Optimized media rendering to complete before sharing the project or sending it to compressor?

    Thanks again, Francisco

  10. I've tried memorizing the Keyboard Shortcuts, but found it too overwhelming, so for now i guess i'll just stick to the longer way of doing it. I really don't mind, and i'm under no real time constraints to get it done anyway. Still thanks for the other tips too Serge. 🙂

  11. I have a question, when u covert to proxy the 4k videos for editing in final cut pro x, you first do the color correction or anything u need to do for ur videos then when u switch to original before transferring to ur finish spot, it's not gonna effect the editing of the coloring you used on the videos since they were proxy now back to 4k?
