3. My Firmware is 2.3.6 and I'm Gingerbread.FC09. Does that matter?

5. I have the phone in 'downloading' state, however when I plug it into the PC, Windows tells me that it can't be recognized. In normal USB mode it has no problems being recognized. Ideas?

6. Uninstall and reinstall the drivers. Let Windows Update find them. Then use the same port for Odin.

7. You need to root for wifi tether, so yes. There are "some" tweaks that do not require root to speed up your phone. You can try installing Spare Parts from Play and set both animation settings to fast as one speed up tweak.

15. Hmm got a refurbed Epic on Tuesday and I can't get to your recovery.. it keeps booting to Stock Android recovery.. seems they did another update.

17. I ran this and received a "Fail". The phone shut off. Now when I turn it on, the screen only shows a picture indicating the phone cannot connect to the computer (a phone has dotted line to computer with an exclamation point on the wire) Is the connection not closed somehow?

20. I dont know what happened. I let the phone sit for 20 minutes or so. Then I tried to boot back to the download screen again and it showed up, I redid the download, it passed and I was able to move on to the next step.
    My cellphone life flashed before my eyes bigtime!
    But Im up and running now…life is good.

21. My Epic 4G is running on firmware 2.3.6, kernel 2.6.35.7, and gingerbread EL30. What is the best way to go about rooting my phone and getting Ice Cream Sandwich on it. Also if you could tell me how to keep all my current apps and phone numbers on it. Thank you so much!

26. OK, nevermind. I let it sit for a while and tried the 1 and power button and redid the Olin start set and it rebooted by itself. I made a mistake and extracted the SU zip file to my phone, but thank goodness it allowed me to boot back and place the zip file and all appears to work – THANK GOODNESS and Thank you!

    I went through the previous video (Gingerbread EL30). I put the zip files and acsrecovery 1.0.0.5 onto my Epic. I used Olin 3 v1.85 with acsrecovery – auto reboot and PDA pointed to acsrecovery.
    The first time it failed.I hit reset and hit start again.It stated all threads completed 0 success 0 failed Iit went black for a minute then nothing. I tried to reboot but all i get is a picture of a phone a yellow triangle with an exclamation point and a computer. I cant turn my phone on now!

30. It sounds like your modem got corrupted. Go to the How to install the EL30 modem video and follow that to reflash the modem. If that does not work you will need to Google How to restore a semi-bricked Epic and follow the instructions in the first post.

Hey QBKing77, I successfully rooted my phone, however, I am not receiving a signal of ANY kind (I'm new to this)… Wifi, 3g, 4g, and no bars… I don't have any fall-back plan, I do not have a recovery, and with prom next week I kinda need my phone to function (yea, I didn't think this through). What can I do to get my signal/3g/4g/wireless back? Even if I need to unroot it.

34. hi first part is working fine…but lastly when u restart the phone to install su.rar file its showing me as screen without ACS emblem….if i try to install from sd card then its stops by throwing the error E:signature verification failed…

    please help me out in rooting the phone…..

39. Hi QBKing77, I bricked the phone trying to restore ThePeoplesRom2 back to FB09 on the original Epic 4G using CWM. Whoops. So I'm going to Flash FB09 and then wanted to CWM/Root. Can I use the links in this video? Thanks!

41. My computer doesnt recognize my phone anymore, the drivers arent working and ive tried to reinstall them and it still doesnt work. any fixes?

Just to note that I'm not using the stock cable the phone came with, using a much better quality cable, and I have tried pulling the battery and starting back up in download mode several times but Odin doesn't seem to catch it still. Any advice would be great. Should I restore the drivers and start over?

46. Having issues with Odin recognizing my phone and flashing it with ACSRecovery. I have a good quality cable and I have tried using different ports and restarting both the computer and the phone. I have followed the first link posted to get it ready for the root and having trouble.

Question QbKing77- I have an Epic 4Grunning Gingerbread EL30 Firmware ver. 2.3.6 i followed your two videos ad was able to root the device and manage my apps via SuperUser. the issue is now when i try to connect device to my cars Bluetooth the device does not find the car (VW Passat 07). Prior to making these changes the was functionaling correctly. Any help/ guidence you could share would be greatly appreciated.

48. Ok the ACSRecovery is working fine on my phone but everytime i try to install the superuser .zip file, it keeps on aborting the process. One thing for sure is that my phone is still on gingerbread, but then again, when I try to flash the clockwork mod with odin, it never downgrades to 2.2
