i downloaded the gingerbreak app and it won't open an apk only 4 files and won't work when I dwnloade it from another source I'm using gingerbread 2.3.6

@photographyandsound this method is obsolete and no longer works on the new Gingerbread firmware. Look for How to Root Samsung Epic on EL30 video.

So I just got my epic upgrade, everything done as you say, but sits there and runs, does nothing. Anything I can do to get this rooted?
