VRS is a default feature on RDNA2 Architecture and is used yes but the geometry engine and primitive shaders are superior together but VRS is a nice feature, the Geometry Engine is a little different from Mesh shading well way different, the Geometry Engine completely doesn't render anything your not looking at that's why VRS is still useful but less essential because it makes the PS5 Uber efficient

  2. Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox series x has hardware based VRS. But the PS5 still isn’t confirmed as being hardware or software based.

  3. Regardless of VRS or magic fairy dust powering the Xbox, next Gen starts when Sony says it starts. This is when the PS5 will be released.

  6. Dev's comments don't make it clear whether GE requires VRS to run. His wording was odd, but he may simply be saying he sees GE as more efficient/effective than VRS, or that VRS + GE is better than VRS alone.

    AMD filed their own patent for VRS in 2017. United States Patent Application 20190066371

    Sony inherited all the hardware features of Direct X 12 Ultimate because they are using RDNA 2.

    Sony will just have to expose the features using a different API.

    Period. End of story.

  8. Doesn't really sound like the PS5 will have home grown hardware features. The API isn't theirs, Kraken isn't theres, the RTX method isn't theres, if they have VRS it probably won't be in-house, lots of stuff seems like its being done by 3rd party devs.

  9. Lol every time there’s something positive said about PS5 he tries to turn it negative. Power is not as important as the actual games and PS5 will have the best games like they always do. And the developer also said there won’t be much difference in power when it comes to the games. So yea I believe a developer more than I do a youtuber. And no I’m not a fanboy my favorite franchise is Halo and I own both consoles but when it comes to exclusives Sony always has the edge over microsoft and this time wont be any different specially how developers are talking how easy it is to develop for PS5.

Microstof have the patent for the name vrs is built Iinto rdna2 always was just becuase they didn't confirm it ps5 will do everything the series x can do but ps5 will be more optimised and easier to develop for why so many devs are praising the ps5 not becuase of how powerful it is but what it has done for them and for gaming

  11. I think Sony can't name it "VRS", and not naming it as such might cause an uproar of sorts. Coz the average internet fanboy doesn't give a damn about functionalities; what they rather want is buzzwords they can run with. And right now "VRS" is a buzzword (much like "Mesh Shading" functionality be damned!). Whatever Sony has in store will be seen as "a poor man's VRS" regardless whether or not their technique/variation is comparable, equivalent, or superior.

    I feel that Sony was initially planning to let their games do the talking but I'm pretty sure they will come out with more details very soon coz silence is causing them more damage.

    We have a LOT of Xbox fanboys preaching that Geometry Engine is a restricted crappy version of Mesh Shading, and that PS5's GPU is in fact RDNA-1 based. I imagine they can't wait for Sony putting a different label on their VRS-equivalent so they can continue with the RDNA-1 nonsense.

  13. People still trippin' on Sony hiding alot of information. Sony don't gotta reveal everything at once just cause Microsoft did. Look how the internet busted a nut with just the controller reveal for the PS5, and it was just a picture along a few features we already knew about. People are interested in the PS5 more than the internet even realizes.
