  1. Turn off MOCA in xfinity modem settings. Your speed will be fast again. When you have that enabled other people are connected through your line when you disable it the speed and line that links to your router goes directly to your router and doesn't split.
    You'll notice this when in the settings you'll see lots of Mac addresses connected to your modem.

  7. And also 1 more reason if you use it like 24/7 it's gonna get slower and slower every day if you want a good wifi signal you should do like one online thing and not like 5 at the same time

  30. Verizon doesn't let you use your own router which is a bummer. I ended up buying out their stupid router just to get things going, instead of renting that shit and being stuck with that monthly fee. Since I will not be switching ISP providers anytime soon, I will be investing in an orbi or an third party router so I can get a stronger connection.

    Connection is so bad upstairs that I have two extenders (NETGEAR EX6200) and the connection is still hot garbage.

    Buy out the Verizon router just so you avoid that rental fee, invest in orbi and/or a third party powerful router. I pay only $40 a month for the internet and I get 100 mps, needed to save money for right now but will try to upgrade the speeds in the future.

  35. Hey im trying to watch football. But buffers like every 5 secs. Tried to open up tech support but get message, cannot reach this site. It doesnt buffers when watching reg channels only nfl. Any suggestions? Thanks

  43. Great video Gabe. So many factors can affect your internet speed. I upgraded from 30mbps to 100mbps and was so excited to start performing speed tests on my various hardwired and wireless devices throughout my house. What an eye opening experience that was! My best hardwired speed was about 75mbps, and my best Wifi speed right next to my router was about 50mbps. I connected my computer directly to my modem (my modem, not the cable company one) and was getting 117mbps, so I knew my router was the culprit. I googled it and found information on messing with my router settings. Very little help in speeds. I bought a Netgear Orbi System with one satellite and anywhere in my house I am getting 115mbps. On my older Dell laptop I only see about 45mbps max, but on my newer HP laptop and iPhone 7 Plus is see the full 115mbps. But with my VPN connected all of my devices to about 50mbps or less.

  45. Great Vid. place a laptop fan cooler to your router and also your modem this will keep your devices cooler and last longer remember the cooler the device the better the better it will operate.

  50. Never rent. Just calculate your breakeven point. ((CostOfModem + CostOfRouter) / (RentalOfModem + RentalOfRouter)) = The number of months it will take after purchasing your own equipment when you begin to save money. Usually the average is 6-8 months.
