  1. That feature sounds great on paper, but if I want to play the single player and try to download it the PS servers download speeds are so slow that I’d have to wait an hour to play it.

  2. Realistically the difference between 825 and 1 tb is only 2 or 3 games so if 825 isn’t enough then neither is 1 tb. Hopefully the expansion drives won’t be too pricey.

  3. Why would you want to pay 200-300$ for a 1tb ssd that's just an extra 175gb you would get over the stock ssd if you were to take the trouble of upgrading at all you would want 2tb or at least 1.5tb taking those initial numbers spending 400$ ish

  4. i have 64 games on a 4 Tb and is half full so you should have about 20 games on that. 4K is a much bigger download for visuals but i do expect better compression tech at this point

  5. Won’t need 825 gb….. me with my almost full 2.5TB I total space on my ps4… I need more bro I like my games all of em… and I don’t feel like deleting single players Bc if I want to ever play them again I’ll have to redownload them and I have rlly shitty WiFi… honestly if they’re going to go this route they need to make a way for us to have the PCIe 4 NVMe drives that are not too expensive that you’ll have to starve your family for 2 weeks to afford… (doesn’t exist) so where as I love how the SSD is going to be wicked fast I mean shit it’s fast I do not like the space it offers it rlly is not at all enough… and I play mostly all of my games as well not just 2 or 3 with the exceptions of sometimes single player only games I might play them than delete them like for ex uncharted, god of war, days gone, Spider-Man, horizon zero dawn. I’ve played those at least 2 times each

  6. Maybe devs should stop being lazy and learn to compress their data. The switch is doing perfectly fine at 32 gigs.

  7. my guess is that the ultrafast 825G SSD will serve more like a memory-drive rather than just plain hd-drive. The transfer rate of the SSD is closer to DDR3 memory.

  8. Standard off the shelf SSD's weren't good enough, Sony/Cerny engineered their own and designed the whole console around it and the custom IO, So it's size was determined by its performance, as 12 lanes into 4 PCIe4.0 channels determined the the type and amount of chips! Cerny explained this in the deep dive…
    Quote from Cerny.
"Delivering two orders of magnitude improvement in performance required a lot of custom hardware to seamlessly marry the SSD to the main processor. A custom flash marries up to the SSD modules via a 12 channel interface, delivering the required 5.5GB/s of performance with a total of 825GB of storage. This may sound like a strange choice for storage size when considering that consumer SSDs offer 512GB, 1TB or more of capacity, but Sony's solution is proprietary, 825GB is most optimal match for the 12-channel interface and there are other advantages too. In short, Sony had more freedom to adapt its design: "We can look at the available NAND flash parts and construct something with optimal price performance. Someone constructing an M.2 drive presumably does not have that freedom, it would be difficult to market and sell if it were not one of those standard sizes"

  9. 1 Terra is my PS4 games but what if the PS4 games will be much less GB for PS5 console…GTA V is 70 GB on PS4 but on PS5 maybe will be 20GB.

  10. It is enough, assuming that the system will not install data rather load the games off the blue ray disk… technically the read and write speeds of the ssd should cover up on first load… but that’s a stab in the dark

  11. Fuck all of what you just said. They need to 4 to 5tb out the box. Some people like to keep all of there games. And no matter what people say games soon get to 500gb once they start using playing movie style graphics.

  12. No it's not but it's fine. In the current generation my ps4 pro hd has been maxed for ages. My one X has a 2 externals and internal for a total of 5.5 terabytes and it's still mot enough.

  13. I won’t be getting this day one just because they have been lacking on getting info out / too many conflicting leaks… and what they have said makes me think that the drive isn’t enough

  14. There is a significant difference between an 825GB HDD and 825GB SSD. Many objects and details in PS4 games are duplicated tens/hundreds of times for the HDD to keep up, therefore taking more space. On PS5, with the 5.5 GB/s SSD, this will not happen at all.

  15. 1-First thing which they should do in next gen for online download of games if giving option of selective install of languages. Right now it installs voiceover, subtitles in many languages which are not needed by most users.. It will save install time and storage space as well..
2- I think back compatibility of ps4 games would be like it works on xbox right now. You will insert the disc & then it will download everything. Reason for doing this is that old games were not specifically made for SSD. So they have lots of duplication of data which slows them down. So the only way of eliminating it is serving it in proper format for SSD which can be done only from newly added customized files. Old hard disk based installs wont be time saving.
3- Also we might see different game sizes in different systems. PS5 will have crazy fast SSD, series X has slower, while most PC gamers are still on good old HDD. So things have to arranged properly. PC based games will be much lagrger in download where as PS5 will have smallest download.
4- Another thing which you forgot to mention is utilisation of RAM. Now that duplication of data is eliminated, so more of RAM will be free for storing needed data. It will further enhance the performance.

  16. Sure next gen PS5 games could be smaller. But all current games like RDR2 will still take up 105GB when you copy it to the PS5 unless they make a PS5 version. I doubt they would because it costs the developer. So size will be an issue for some time to come.

  17. I'll personally trade storage size for storage speed every single day. We coulda had 4TB mechanical hard drives, but SSD tech is worth the small drives it'll take to be affordable.

  18. Lmao ,all generation 1tb ain't enough, ps4 more powerful, now ….now listen to you lot hahaha….wow you Sony fans could suck the chrome off a set of wheels thru a straw at a hundred paces ,can you actually hear yourselves?? Meme gold

  19. Sometimes I have the feeling that it is no longer about real development – especially among the fans.
Nowadays it's all about the biggest numbers on paper.
Take a look at smartphones and Co … 100 and more pixels.
In the end, whether people can really use the potential or not doesn't count … It's just ridiculous

  20. Great video.
825GB SSD is not enough and even if it were 2TB it still won't be enough :D. That is why these consoles have expandable memory slots. If anyone needs more space you are free to add else manage what you have. Remember that one important thing to consider is the price of the console. Are you willing to spend $1000 for a video game console? I believe Sony has taken all of these into consideration to give us the best possible specs for a next gen console. Looking at the difference between the ps4 pro and the ps5, there is nothing to complain about; all we need are the great games.
