I think the numbers about Intermediate data are off by 1000 times. He mentions couple times that the inpu tis 60Mbytes and MapReduce geenratesd 170Gbytes of intermediate data when the screenshots clearly indicate that the numbers are in bytes and the io-read-bytes is 170819644 bytes. (14:22) This, clearly is not 170 gigabytes, but only 170 megabytes.
