My mother had the Hong Kong flu when she was 16 yrs old…the swine flu…avian flu..even the Spanish flu which sailors had brought over to Spain from China..all of these viruses are a result of China's unhygenic practices regarding sales of live exotic animals for food..I wish that they would all become Buddhist vegetarians…for the sake of the world

  8. The Obama administration suspended this type of research in October 17 2014. Following several mishaps here in the U.S. at federal research facilities. It's called gain of function or increased pathogenic research, basically taking viruses that "might" make the jump to humans, increasing their virulence through chimeric splicing, then studying them. These manufactured viruses have no cure and are incredibly dangerous and has almost no benefit compared to enormous risk. The moratorium on study was lifted in 2017 after promises of oversight & safety.
    ALL the interviewees saying "I have no idea why they would do this" is patently false- They know exactly the dangers of this type of study. That's why their funding has been halted before in 2012 & 2014…. why weren't they asked ???? This is truly poor reporting.

  14. There was no real journalism in this 60 minutes video. It was all lazy reporting and based all on the fallacy of appealing to authority. This is the state of the American corporate media today. Do you think Viacom will risk having CBS investigate the truth about the Wuhan Lab?   28. No. The assertions this virologist, Elodie Ghedin, make are bogus. I do not know her motives. She may be obfuscating the truth or simply ill-informed. 1) She says we would be able to find the backbone from our known database of backbones. No. We definitely have backbones in labs that are not shared with the general scientific community. People in labs around the world have been dicing and splicing viruses for almost 2 decades. Do you really believe these virologists haven’t created some monstrous viruses that they have kept from their citizenry? 2) Dr. Ghedin asserts that an engineered virus would have used the backbones we know, and that SARS covid-19 doesn’t have a backbone we know. In actuality, we have been making chimeric viruses that are untraceable since 2002. (See: Systematic Assembly of a Full-Length Infectious cDNA Hepatitus Virus Strain A59, Boyd, Denison, Weiss, and Baric. They created an “untraceable” coronavirus in this 2002 study.). 3) She says we can find every piece of SARS covid-19 in other viruses that circulate in nature. Yes, this is true. However she doesn’t talk about the furin cleavage site that was spliced into this virus, something NOT FOUND NATURALLY IN ANY CORONAVIRUS. She doesn’t explain how this virus would have had to pass from a bat carrying the RaTGT13 virus to a pangolin, an endangered species that not only exists in small numbers but also tends to be solitary (live alone). That pangolin would have already had to have been carrying the correct pangolin virus (pangolin/1). Then, that virus would have needed a critical translation error that swapped Pangolin/1 with the bat virus, something that would have taken over 50 years in nature but can be accelerated in a lab. Then the new combination virus would have had to leave the pangolin and magically acquire a virus with a furin cleavage site (PRRA) like in avian influenza A viruses like H5N1. All of these essential components were in the Wuhan lab and the bat lady knew how to engineer a virus like this from her time at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. I suspect our virologists have been threatened to have their funding pulled if the talk about our own involvement in creating gain of function viruses.
