  2. Lubuntu; My 2008 HP dc5850 came with 3 GB and a 3-core AMD Phenom X3 8600B at 2.3GHz and 64-bits. It did run all Linux Distros, 10 years is too new for 32-bits. Currently it has 8 GB of 800 MHz DDR2 and a 4-core 2010 Phenom II at 3.2Ghz and it runs all OSes (Linux, Win 7 and 10) even as guest OS in a virtual machine without any problems.
My 15 year old Pentium 4 HT at 3.0 GHz with 2 GB of 400 MHz DDR is 32-bits and that one would need something like Lubuntu, but I prefer its sexy sister Peppermint. Maybe Peppermint and Lubuntu should join forces.

  3. What I would like is that you slowly scroll through some of the webpages you're showing. For example in this case I would've liked to be able to read the whole Lubuntu blog post.

  4. Hey Michael – awesome episode (as usual). Any chance you'll be designing/releasing a new t-shirt any time in the near future? Just asking 🙂 I'm a real sucker for Linux t-shirts, cups, stickers etc… I have no idea how much work/effort goes in to making/distributing a t-shirt, but it'd be cool if you had a selection (I'd certainly purchase each and every one them).

  5. Qt based DEs are just rocks, LXQt is just getting better and better aside from the negative controversy of some LXDE fanboys. LXQt is the middleman between LXDE and XFCE 🙂

  6. As a beginner in Linux with ease of use, stability, security and privacy being my priorities for any distro I choose to start with, I’ve been asking around on yt about what wayland is and its alleged benefits and this is a summary of feedback I’ve been given…Gnome shell and KDE Plasma offer wayland, Gnome shell wayland isn’t stable yet but KDE plasma is more promising (I’m very interested in starting Linux with Kubuntu) and for security on KDE Plasma (which is my highest priority) I was suggested to run a stable but relatively insecure x11 session as a non admin account (no sudo privileges) and run higher security session with the admin privileges account under wayland
Once more experienced and comfortable with terminal run tty sessions instead.
X11 does not restrict access to its resources, this can be used to establish keylogging, screenshots and screencasts between apps running on different accounts, across sandboxes or snap eg if you have a non elevated account and separate root account, if the root or wheel account is used in x11, a malicious app can be used on non elevated account to sniff out a root or root capable password via the x11 server
Does any of the above make sense? Or have I misquoted some of it? Would appreciate your view on wayland relative to KDE and how to maximize security, any previous vids would be appreciated if you have already covered these topics 🙂

  7. RebeccaBlackOS?!?!

7am, waking up in the morning
Gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs
Gotta have my FOSS, gotta K.I.S.S.
Seein' updates, the download is goin'
Tickin' on and on, everybody's rushin'
Gotta get down to the server room
Gotta catch my bus, I see my friends (My friends)
Coding it in the front seat
    Hacking in the back seat
    Gotta make my mind up
    Which seat can I take?

    [Chorus: Rebecca Black]
    It's Linux, Linux
    Gotta get down with Linux
Everybody's lookin' forward to the next kernel, next kernel
    Linux, Linux
    Gettin' down with Linux
Everybody's lookin' forward to the next kernel
