  1. Dear Matt, would you say that this Benbox can do what an Atomos Ninja V can do? This device is so affordable to say the least. I would truly love to record what the camera sees enabling that image to be uploaded to Premiere Pro for example. Is that what you are suggesting? Methinks so but I would love your feedback. Fond regards Pete

  2. Thanks for the review. You mentioned that the device could transmit images, i.e. tethered but it was more in passing than in detail. Would you know if this device camera combination can be configured to tether and only transmit the captured JPG image an not the NEF? Also, is there a recommended connection to keep the hotshoe free for a strobe transmitter/flash?

  3. Maybe I misunderstood this completely, but there we are, discussing how photography becomes faster and faster the other day. And then here you go live with your client already. The days of shooting, developing, drum scanning, mailing CDs or sending them via ISDN (anyone still remembers?) are like memories from a different world.

  4. It's an interesting device, thanks for showing it here. But, I wonder if "we" need it. I can shoot tethered into my laptop via USB-C rather fast. I am not moving over to Capture 1, but if you use it for tethering, you can point to photos that you want you clients and art director to see. These then are made available to them via a web server. So they can bring their own laptop or tablet and look at the photos there.

    No, that's not live view.

BTW, just installed firmware 3.1 on my Z 7 – minor release with a couple bug fixes. May be interesting for the Atomos user.

  5. Great review on a handy device Matt thanks yet again. Also congratulations on reaching 10k subs. Onward and upward. Don't ever lose what you do so well though. I know you wont.

  6. Hey Mate, another great episode! Do you think this is better than an Atomos Ninja? Or are they for two specifically different things? I'm wondering if it can handle raw/prores video shoots ok. Thanks Matt.

  7. Looks like a neat little gadget, but I would have no use for it as I never work with third party clients. Generally all my clients are happy to see the photos on the back of the camera or on my phone when I use Snapbridge. Plus I can get a really long tether cable for about the same price and when in studio (when I get one) I can attach my Z6 or Z7 and tether to my laptop so the model can see the unedited stills during the shoot via Lightroom.

  8. Seems like the Hollyland Mars 400 or the vaxis atom 500. They have a receiver also that allows 1080p to be sent to a recorder. No camera control but that can be done with snap bridge. The Vaxis is only $300us at b&h and allows 3 android iOS and one dedicated receiver. Great for run and gun as well as gymbal shooting. Great also for events where a second camera can move around and capture audience. Great to see Nikon announced the Z5

  9. Hey Matt. Looks like a really good device. Just a couple of questions. Where do you buy these in Australia ..?? Also, you mentioned it wasn't working for video . .did you mean you couldn't see the screen or you couldn't remotely capture using the device ..?? Also, one more. What about latency if using for video monitor. Great video as usual mate.

  10. Haven't watched the whole video, but I think this would be useful for studio portraits as well and could replace tethering to show the model images. Like a live mirror or hit play to show the stills. It would be GREAT if they allowed recording the EVF as a cheaper alternative to something like the ninja V for anyone teaching with a mirrorless camera

  11. 10K subscribers! Woo hoo! Congratulations!!! ???. And the Benbox looks quite interesting esp for the $. If they add remote capture / recording that would be killer. Poor person's Ninja, eh? Cheers!

  12. I like it…
Freedom from the cables locking down the camera for a field monitor for the client.
And i'm glad that i'm not the only one that hates mini/ & micro USB…

  13. Looks interesting.Tried using snapbridge while taking night shoots Neowise but while I was able to connect and take picturesd wasn’t anle to get a good view of the comet plus it would time out.

  14. Matt, Matt, Matt, no!!!, another cool thing for my shopping list. Thanks for the great review.
Hope you are going will with the current Victorian lockdown, all of our best wishes stay safe mate.
