  1. Well as you’d expect, the moment I publish a video like this Apple confirms and event for November 10! I’ll work on a last minute roundup for later this week, check the community tab for details on my coverage!

  2. this video proves that some tech vloggers (like luke miani) critically thinks of a sensible tech content unlike the bulk of tech vloggers making shallow reviews of tech with some clickbait title and call it a day. just saying.

  3. I bought a 12.9” iPad Pro 2018 model refurbished on Woot when the 2020 models came out. It was a 1TB model and cost $800. I spent the savings on an apple keyboard and pencil… and (I’m looking at my 2013 MacBook across the room) my iPad has become my laptop. I’ve edited video on it it with I movie and LumaFusion, edit photos on it… I draw on it. It’s pretty incredible.

  4. * The locked-down OS. I'd probably have to jailbreak it to get the features I want, and then avoid system updates like the plague
    * Really useful system tweaks like BetterTouchTool are not on iPad, and it is not likely to get them any time soon.
    * TextExpander is on i(Pad)OS, but is extremely limited in what it can do. And with an external keyboard, it only works in apps that specifically build it in.
    * You can’t back up an iPad with Backblaze, or any other whole-system backup. The only available option is iCloud, where storage plans max out at 2TB. And once you have more than 200 gigs of data you end up paying more than you would for Backblaze's unlimited plan.
    * The ability to listen to a Youtube video in the background is completely free in desktop browsers, but the mobile app version of Youtube charges 10 bucks a month for it. By a similar token, the mobile app for Netflix won’t allow you to take screenshots, use Airplay, or sign up in the app.
    * No headphone jack and only one USB-C port. Plugging in an external drive means I would have to disconnect the charger, and vice versa
    * I've tried typing on an iPad keyboard and it the keys feel horrible and stiff.
    * A dozen or more little things, like the ability to change an icon you don’t like, or the novelty typewriter sounds I use in my Mac, are not available on iPad and probably never will be.
    * Photoshop sucks on iPad. Microsoft Office sucks too. Too many important features are nerfed or straight-up missing. Excel only goes up to column IV for Christ's sake.
    * The drop-down menus on Mac OS and the ability to assign a keyboard shortcut to any menu item is something I'd really badly miss on an iPad. Keyboard shortcuts in general for that matter.

  5. New to the channel, couldn’t agree more, but many of us have known this for a very long time already. I use both – when I need to dash – I can pick up the iPad and carry on in light mode, but it can’t really fully replace my Mac.

  6. I LOVE the iPad with Magic Keyboard form factor. The only thing that’s missing is macOS. Well, that and ~16GB RAM instead of 6. So honestly I’m more excited about Big Sur on an iPad than ARM Macs, unless one of the Macbooks gets Pencil support.

  7. I sold my MacBook because the iPad Pro became my main computer. Im still excited to hear about the Apple Silicon Macs, but I doubt they will replace my iPad Pro.

  8. Apple silicon is going to be a disaster for me as a software developer. I need to run Intel based VMs and Docker containers. I am either going to have to wait for the last variant of the Intel based variant or go back to a Windows laptop. Speed is not a big thing for – the current variants are way fast enough for me.

  9. If desktop apps run natively on iPad it will change the game. I have an old MacBook Pro from 2012 that I only use to run two programs (vuescan and capture one). The rest of my work is done on desktop and iPad.

  10. iPad pro would be a great device if you'd be able to get the actual PRO programs running on it. For designers it's not enough to have half baked Photoshop and no illustrator etc.

  11. Hey, I don't wanna be mean, but I really don't like your videos. Could you please do me a favour and ban me from your channel so that I don't see them in my recommended feed. Thanks.

  12. Advice: please take care of these click baits on the thumbnail.
Your content is good by itself, you don't need it. The message it passes isn't good.

Personally, that is the reason I stop following Unbox therapy and looking more for MKBHD content. Both are huge, but one is more honest and impartial than the other.

  13. Apple moves to ARM, rest of the ecosystem follows, soon Dell, HP and Lenovo are on ARM systems, with locked down boot loaders. Linux now becomes even more niche (outside DC/Servers). The only benefit from this would be if Apple gave us the option for OS10 on an iPad. Honestly I feel like the ARM move is going to be a big money grabbing exercise. Look at how the iPhone 12 can't be repaired, Macbook's are now going the same way. Tiny unrepairable logic board in your Macbook, wanna swap that out? If the 12 is anything to go off, the hardware will be paired with your screen, keyboard, trackpad, webcam etc, meaning nothing will work unless you take it back to apple to have someone "qualified" to carry out the work.
